Wario Land 2 By Nintendo Review by The Avardancer Size: 8 Megabits (1 Megabyte) Save: Battery, one slot Released: 1998 Works with: Any version of Gameboy. Does NOT contain Gameboy Color pallettes. Opening Snide Remarks: This is the sequel to the fantastic; but flawed, hit title "Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land". Will they get it right? Oh, Hello! What's this in the instruction manual?! Stop the car! Wario can not DIE in this game! Oh no. What if it's too easy? By the way, this is an 8 megabit cartridge; which means it is one of the bigger cartridges made for Gameboy. In perspective to Megabytes; that means that this game is 1 Megabyte. Gameplay: You should go buy a Gameboy to play this game. The geniuses at Nintendo decided that because Wario can't die; they'll just up the difficulty to greater hieghts. If you could die; this game would be impossible to beat. Thank goodness I can't die! The No-Die thing means that you can fall off those cliffs without fear. You should explore the levels to find all the really amazing stuff that has been hidden in this game. Some enemies even cause Wario to mutate into new forms which you must use to get past various obstacles. This game rocks! It's fun and original. I'll even go as far as saying that this game is a must-have. It's THE single most innovative game I have ever seen! Wario has broken new ground in platform gaming. This is a game that you MUST own. A lot of great variety has been packed into this title! And once you get 100% there is a FREE Game and Watch Game and a Time Attack level thrown in as a bonus! Graphics: The graphics are the best graphics that I have ever seen on Gameboy. Only Legend of Zelda has graphics of this caliber. Wario Land 2 has beautiful Super Gameboy enhancements like multiple borders and great colors. Those eight megabits went into making this game have so much animation, detail, and effects that you could swear that the Gameboy is a Next Generation System. Sound: Perfection has just been raised to a higher level. There's TONS of sound effects in this game! Lots of the sound effects are original and made for the game too. Music: Remember how forgetable the music in Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land was? Not so here, the music is flawless. It even changes or warps slightly depending on what form Wario is in or how close you are to the exit. Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening has met it's equal in this game's music. Stereo sound, baby! The music follows you around in a way. For example, if you get close to the exit, the music gets more up-beat, and if you get hit and change imto one of Wario's many forms... the music changes accordingly. This is what is refered to as a "virtual sound enviroment". That's pretty impressive. Play Control: Flawless. No sliding; except on ice. The control is excellent. There really isn't much left to say about the perfectly natural control in this game. Final Analysis: Do you love platform games, adventure games, action games, and just plain perfect games? Then buy this game! Quality has been redefined! Any other game in this genre is pale and stale compared to Wario Land 2! There is more packed into that one megabyte than all 650 megabytes of a CD. This game costs about as much as a Playstation game; but it's better than 98% of those games. I've found my self coming back to this game a lot. It's just a perfect game baby! If I had to choose between this and Link's Awakening; I would choose............................................................ .......................................................................... .......................................................................... ......Link's Awakening. This is definately as good as Link's Awakening; but It still isn't as perfect as The Legend of Zelda: "Link's Awakening". Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound: ***** Music: ***** Play Control: ***** Total:25 out of 25 Final Score: 100% Currently known codes: None.
