Yoshi's Cookie Game by Nintendo Reviewed by Adrock gbcam@hotmail.com Size: 4 megabits Save: No Released: 1993 Works with: Any Game Boy **************************************************************************** Opening Snide Remarks: Mmm, who doesn't love cookies. They are so soft and chewy, you want to bite into them, rub them, caress them... Oh, wait, wrong cookies. Anyways, you can play Yoshi's Cookie in bed and not have to worry about those itchy crumbs. **************************************************************************** Gameplay Descripion: This is a somewhat different puzzle game. You arrange the cookies into rows by holding A and pressing up, down, left, or right to shift the rows. Depending on how big the rows are, you will get more points. Soon, more types of cookies are introduced. The more you play, the harder it gets. What I like about this game is that unlike games such as Dr. Mario, you aren't thrown into the harder levels right away. You are allowed time to get used to playing the game. Liked: A cool puzzle game with a new way of playing. Hated: I thought it losed novelty a little faster than games like Tetris and Tetris Attack. **************************************************************************** Graphics Description: Mario and Yoshi are your cute little stars of the game. Awww, look at Mario walk on the screen. He's so cute. He comes in with a cookie jar and says "Cookie!", but can't get it open. He comes back with a hammer, but now he finds that Yoshi has swallowed the cookie jar. He chases him with the hammer. Awww, so cute. Make me want to talk baby talk. Liked: Cute Mario and Yoshi. Clear graphics. Hated: Nothing. **************************************************************************** Sound/Music Description: The music is average. Not really upbeat, just some Mario-ish songs and Sound FX. Liked: OK songs. Hated: You won't notice if the volume is off. **************************************************************************** Play Control/Game Design: The rows of cookies are easy to shift, and the control is really responsive. But, I thought the controls could of moved a little faster while shifting. Liked: Responsive. Hated: Shifting rows of cookies feels slow at times. **************************************************************************** Improve: Different modes of play, like a time trial and stuff. RIYL: Yoshi, Tetris Attack. **************************************************************************** Final Words: A new puzzle experience that shines with originality. **************************************************************************** Score Gameplay: ***** Graphics: ***** Sound/Music: *** Play Control/Game Design: ***** Personal Opinion: **** Total: 22 Final Score: %88 **************************************************************************** Currently Known Codes: Extra GAME! In a One-Player Game; put the SPEED on HIGH, the SOUND on OFF, and push UP and SELECT on the LEVEL option until you see the NUMBER 11. You can select levels up to 99 now. These levels are harder and you need to get rid of the Turtle shell. The Cookies are different now. :)
