Yoshi Game by Nintendo Review by The Avardancer Size: 2 Megabits Save: None Released: 1992 Works with: Any version of Gameboy. Opening Snide Remarks: This puzzle game is called "Mario and Yoshi" in every country but America. Why? The title: "Mario and Yoshi" sounds better than just "Yoshi". Anyways, that's enough of that, on to the review. Gameplay: The idea of the game is to match up the little creatures to get rid of them. There's also egg shells that are thrown in for good measure. If you get the bottom of the egg shell and you stack a bunch of creatures on it; you will be able to get a lot of points by stacking the top of the eggshell and sandwiching the creatures. There's two game modes; one is a go for a high score thing, and the other is a clear the screen time trial. Yeah, there's two player mode as well. This game has a major gameplay flaw. It's easy. It's fun; but it's easy. This is a beginners puzzle game. Experts won't find any challenge here. You can also play against an opponent with the Game Link cable. Graphics: The graphics are well done. There's little cinema scenes and extra animation thrown in that makes this a fun game to watch as well as play. The game is recognized by Gameboy Color and a pretty cool Color Pallete is given to the game by that system. :) Sound: It's there; and it's good. But, you won't notice it unless you really are looking for it. Music: Cute, and sometimes a lullaby. The music is romper room fare; but it's fun. The mushroom theme sounds almost celtic, the flower theme will put you to sleep, and the star theme is jolly and fast. But, the OFF option is your best bet. Play Control: Read the manual, because the play control is less than intuitive. Final Analysis: Like puzzle games? Need a quick distraction? You might like this; but I find it shallow and too simplistically easy for a puzzle game. SCORE Gameplay: **** Graphics: **** Sound: *** Music: **** Play Control: *** Total: 18 out of 25 FINAL SCORE: 72% Currently Known Codes: None.
