Lady Vols race by Vandy 86-54

The Lady Vols made such an impression with a 20-0 run to start the second half. The six-minute-plus stretch featured pressure defense, offensive aggression and superstar individuals like Chamique Holdsclaw creating shots for themselves and baskets for the highlight reel.

In so doing, the Lady Vols drew the figurative curtain on a game that forced the arena's upper-deck curtain to be drawn back to accommodate a crowd of 19,208. The turnout was UT's second-best of the season.

In reviewing UT's work, Foster spoke of its multiple dimensions that are ''almost new to the women's game.''

Tennessee's women's trinity of Holdsclaw, Tamika Catchings and Semeka Randall combined for 68 of UT's points, scoring on everything from reverse layups to three pointers. Holdsclaw led with a game-high 24.
