Chamique Holdsclaw's career night covered for the Tennessee Lady Vols' off night Saturday.
The UT forward set a career high with 39 points and reached another career scoring milestone against Auburn.
The Lady Vols were especially thankful for these feats as they struggled to a 79-63 victory at Thompson-Boling Arena.
Holdsclaw joined the 2,000-point club with her second basket, a putback of a missed 3-pointer by Kellie Jolly.
With the basket, the Tennesssee All-American joined exclusive company. Bridgette Gordon, who scored 2,450 career points, has been the only other Lady Vol to top 2,000.
During an ensuing time out, Holdsclaw was presented with a basketball adorned with a big orange bowl. Her efforts helped top-ranked Tennessee remain undefeated (28-0, 12-0 SEC).
Auburn (14-10, 3-10) had called the time out, trying to figure out a way to score.
But Holdsclaw was the only Lady Vol scoring. The rest of Tennessee's effort was highlighted by general sloppiness, as reflected by 13 first-half turn|overs, and the fact that no other player had scored more than six points.
