I came into this world one day in April in the year 1980. Although my parents split up when I was only a child, I was able to see my father regularly since he only lived on the other side of town! My mother, father, and his parents all spoiled me rotten as a child, which has led to a grown up addiction to shopping!
Throughout my childhood, my mother and I moved constantly. There were several schools that I attended, and it was difficult for me to make friends because I would always lose them. At ten years old, my mother and I moved to a new apartment complex where I met Candice and Chanel. Taken aback at first by her bold forwardness, Candice would soon become my best friend. For years we were inseparable, even when we would quarrel. Sadly, when I was 11 I moved away to stay with my father and she moved away with her family to Missouri. It seemed that our friendship was over.
But that wasn't the case. We kept in steady contact through letters and our friendship continued to flourish, despite the long distance. After a year of living with my father, I moved back in with my mother. That was when I found a stray cat, whom I named BeBe.
At 15, I had finally gotten my first boyfriend via the internet. I decided it was time to tell my mother that I was gay. It was a simple moment, and I figured it wouldn't be as a big of a shock since my cousin had come out to his mother years before. As I suspected, my mother took it fine and things were perfect.. except on the school front.
After years of being tortured and bullied, high school had finally become a place where I had lots of friends and could just have a good time. But years of pressure had led me to a boiling point. At 16, with my mother's permission, I dropped out of high school.
After completing my GED, I was ready to conquer the world. An illusion of becoming a famous model and actor led me to look into a modeling agency. I found a local agency who was interested in me and I put together a composite card.
After modeling didn't reap the results I had dreamed of, I decided to get a real job. At 17 I became employed at a music store, where I worked for 4 years until they went out of business in Summer of 2001.
Life was going pretty well, but something was missing... love! At 17, I began being pursued online by a young fellow who went by the handle kevv18. His overzealous efforts to get my attention eventually paid off and we met. What resulted was love at first sight. I had met the man I was destined for.
Pedro has changed my life considerably. Through ups and downs, he remains a constant support for my sometimes erratic behaviour. He provides me with the love and affection I so richly need, and he even led me to pursue college. Even though we are no longer together, he'll always hold a very special place in my heart. First love can never be erased.
School was something I was fearful of returning to, but college proved to be an entirely different atmosphere compared to high school.
I finally graduated from Valencia Community College in Spring of 2001 with a 3.9 GPA and an AA degree. I am currently taking my next step to get a degree in Advertising and Public Relations at UCF.
I must also mention a significant point in my life that just recently occurred. In February of 2001, I found out after 20 years on this planet that I have a half brother, Jeramiah. We have hung out and begun to catch up on all the lost years. It is interesting to go from being an only child to having a brother, but it is certainly an experience that can only enrich my life.
Although this is an extremely abridged version of my life, I hope that it at least provides a little insight into who I am as a person and a few of the moments that have made the biggest impact on my life. There is more to be told, but that is reserved for only my closest friends.
In telling about myself, I think it is also important to recognize people who have made a special mark on my heart. I would like to say I love you to Tara, Amy, David (Orange!), Lisa, April, Nadeen and Jeremy. And to my other good friends (you know who you are), I am sorry that I can't mention everyone.. I don't want to leave anyone out, so it's much easier to just make one big shout out to you all! Thanks for being there and for taking interest in a brat like me!
