After-Prom Party Attendees Enjoy Great
Evening
At 12 p.m., May 10, Southern
Entertainment Center opened its doors to 300 plus CHS students and registered guests for the annual After-Prom Party. Sponsored by the Local School Improvement Council, the party provides an alcohol-free, chaperoned, enjoyable ending to Prom Night. Food, bowling, pool, and the movies are free to all those who attend the party. Also free is the non-stop, digital entertainment of Bill France. Throughout the evening students have multiple chances to win gift certificates, prizes and cash.

Chaperones for the evening included members of the high school LSIC Committee, CHS faculty and parents. Among those who fell asleep during the movie was Ms. White (as always).

The Thrill of Baseball
It's the same every year -- everybody loves this game. Furthermore, the CHS Baseball Team has, quite unexpectedly to everyone outside of the program, batted its way to an 18-5 record with only three games left in the regular season.
Nobody gave us much of a chance this year since we were a very young team
with a new coach and all, but we knew how good we could be and we've proved
it. We began the season ranked 11th in the state in Class AA, which was an
insult and we've fought our way to being ranked #7 as of this writing, but
we should be ranked higher than that in our opinion.
We have disposed of almost every team we have played and done it quite
handily. We've scored big wins over Sherman (1), Mountain View (2), Tug
Valley (2), Sissonville (2), Matewan (2), Van (2), Man (1), Scott (1),
Ritchie County (1), Independence (1), Nitro (1), Riverside (1), and Winfield
(1). Several of these teams are "quality teams." Sissonville and Scott,
for instance, were ranked in the top 10 in the AA Class and Winfield was and
still is Number One. Ritchie County also had a really good record.
After all of this being said and all of it being true, I think we have a
real shot at winning the AA crown this year. It might happen; it might not,
but we have a team that could go all the way. Mark it down.
