Thank You

Homeschoolers sharing their knowledge, and experience with other homeschoolers, is what has made the homeschooling movement expand so rapidly across the world. Those homeschoolers that have been there, and done that are the very key to success to those just starting to homeschool. Homeschooling families have such a wide variety of experience, and talents to share with each other. Therefore every homeschool child will have opportunities beyond any child in an organized school setting. It is such a joy to know that I am a part of this caring, sharing homeschooling family and community.

Thank you to all the homeschoolers that were so willing to share their experience and wisdom with others by responding to my questionnaire. I am sure that others will find your experience and suggestions useful if they are ever confronted with negativism by family and friends about homeschooling. I was very pleased with the diverse response, the varied replies, and that we got so many from across South Carolina. Again thanks to all of you.

Rebecca S. of Eutawville, SC has been homeschooling 11 years and has just begun her 12th year. She has had very little negative comments in regards to homeschooling. Most people are either curious or complimentary with her family in regard to homeschooling.

The comments that she has experienced are in regard to her children being deprived, because they're not having the public school experience with all the trimmings!

How does she handle negative comments from friends and family members about homeschooling? Usually a gentle and simple comment or silence is the method of choice for Rebecca.

Words of encouragement to others from Rebecca are to "use wisdom and lots of prayer; few words (unless the Lord leads otherwise), and compassion towards their ignorance (they simply do not understand and therefore to them it is so wrong, foolish, or whatever be the emotion they express)."
