From Q & A About CHASE SC & Membership:

Q. What does CHASE SC provide for it's members?

A.

Membership coverage in an association that completes the requirements of 59-65-47 is your primary benefit. We provide numerous resources on how to prepare transcripts, where to get information on testing, basic forms, special needs information, a newsletter group that keeps you updated and informed by CHASE SC, a members only email loop to discuss issues about homeschooling. We provide you with your Lifetime Membership Certificate, Membership Cards, and a Letter of Acceptance. As time and funds permit, the board may offer workshops, seminars, and/or classes for the homeschooling family. Members will receive a discount with HSLDA (minimum number of members with HSLDA must be met first), and other businesses and stores that accept your CHASE SC card for their homeschooling or teacher discount.

See the question above.

divider bar

Do you review records for families when there is a DSS or State Dept. of Ed. issue?

Yes, we believe it is in the best interest of our homeschooling families and our association.

divider bar

Will you review my records to make sure that I am in compliance of 59-65-47,
if I need your assistance?

It is unlikely that homeschoolers in their third year or more will need this type of assistance;
however, if there are special circumstances please contact us to assist you.

divider bar

In what cases do you notify DSS of our homeschool?

Per the CHASE SC Lifetime Membership Application html or pdf,

"CHASE SC will provide membership verification to officials when needed."

We provide membership verification when we are contacted by an official.

divider bar

In what cases do you notify the Department of Education of our homeschool?

Per the CHASE SC Lifetime Membership Application html or pdf,

"CHASE SC will provide membership verification to officials when needed."

We provide membership verification when we are contacted by an official.

In the reports made and sent out in January to each school district we give only, "the number and grade level of children home schooled through the association to the children's respective school districts," as provided for in 59-65-47.

divider bar

What experience do you have at dealing with the Department of Ed. and DSS?

The Founding Board At Large board members (the current Director is one) have effectively worked with both agencies in their previous three years of operation. Additionally, both of the Founding Board At Large members have worked with DSS as both foster parents and adoptive parents for a number of years.

divider bar

How long have you been in operation?

This is our first year with the new structure of a board and the 501 (3) (c).
However, CHASE SC previously operated 3 years as a family operated association.

divider bar

How and why can my membership be terminated?

If any information on the application is found to be false your membership may be terminated, returned checks not reimbursed (along with the $25 returned fee charge) within 30 days will result in termination of Lifetime Family Membership, or failure to comply with any of CHASE SC's policies may result in your homeschool being terminated.

Please see:

divider bar

Do you work with the other associations,
to aid and help homeschoolers throughout South Carolina?

Yes, there is a loop where the leaders of a 59-65-47 association, and the former leaders from the grass roots campaign
that got SC homeschoolers 59-65-47, come together to share wisdom, and learn from the wisdom of others.

divider bar

How do you work with the other associations?

On the Leaders Loop, assisting newly forming or formed associations with information and forms,
and other special projects are just a few ways we work with other associations.

divider bar

What are your membership fees?

Lifetime membership dues are $35 per family for as long as you homeschool.

Additional information from

Q & A About CHASE SC & Membership:

Q. What does CHASE SC Lifetime Membership mean to me and my family?

A.

Lifetime membership coverage is for both parent(s)/teacher(s) listed on the CHASE SC Lifetime Membership Application Form. You will be a member for as long as you homeschool your children, foster children (as long as the law allows it, and you have DSS permission), or other children that you have been appointed by the court as the guardian.

All children listed on the application are members while in Kindergarten - 12th grades and being homeschooled. Any child/ren born, adopted, or foster child/ren placed in your home (as long as the law allows it, and you have DSS permission) after your original Lifetime Membership Application Form has been submitted, are eligible for membership. You must include them on the Yearly Statement of Completion/Update of Information and they must be in Kindergarten - 12th grades and being homeschooled.

The parent's (teacher's) Lifetime Membership does not carry over to their children. Children's membership is for the duration that they are homeschool students.
