Gonzo!!KevO's Upcoming Shows PageGonzo!

NotesOkay, here's the deal...  I have climbed on board with the kind folks at Jambands.Ca, and have transfered all of the info below over to the Event Search database at that site.  It took me a while to come to grips with it, but now I am growing ever more excited by the possibilities of the new listings site -- its gonna be damn good!  All of the info that you are used to finding on this page will still be totally available, as well as my regular comments/notes..  However the new listings site has a completely new look to it, is  more organized, and is totally searchable in every which way you could think of!  It is an ongoing process and this process has just begun, so please bear with us as we sort out the bugs and snazz it up.

I will no longer be doing any updates to this site.  Please do check out the Events Search and The Watchtower over at Jambands.Ca to keep up on whats going on in your town!  Also, click here to read up on how to customize The Watchtower to your liking.  Thanks for all the support over the years eh!!  Its been a blast.

Feel free to get in touch with me at kevo@jambands.ca.  Bands, promoters and fans, keep on sending me those upcoming show dates!

July 26th  (Friday)
    - James Cotton
       Horseshoe Tavern - Toronto
Notes:  James Cotton's hard-driving, powerful harmonica performances have earned him a reputation as a foot-stomping, infectious good-time entertainer.  "We're talking about the blues, loud and fast and often get-down dirty; we're talking about James Cotton, a singer, stomper and harp-player extraordinaire," says the New York Daily News.  Cotton played/recorded with Muddy Waters in the 50's/60's and since has become one of the greatest blues harp players, playing with many big names and winning many awards and whatnot.  Should be pretty good!   19+.  $16 in advance.

August 6th   (Tuesday)
    - Love (with Arthur Lee)
       The Opera House  -  Toronto
Notes:  Los Angeles 60's orchestral pop legends!  "One of the best West Coast folk-rock/psychedelic bands, Love may have also been the first widely acclaimed cult/underground group. During their brief heyday -- lasting all of three albums -- they drew from Byrdsish folk-rock, Stonesish hard rock, blues, jazz, flamenco, and even light orchestral pop to create a heady stew of their own. They were also one of the first integrated rock groups, led by genius singer/songwriter Arthur Lee, one of the most idiosyncratic and enigmatic talents of the 1960s. Stars in their native Los Angeles, and an early inspiration to the Doors, they perversely refused to tour until well past their peak. This ensured their failure to land a hit single or album, though in truth the band's vision may have been too elusive to attract mass success anyway."  $20, 11:15pm.

    - Lose Yer Shoes Folkadelic Festival

Notes:  Lose Yer Shoes is a fusion of music and nature, a jamfest with a heavy singer-songwriter influence.  This is the 7th annual Lose Yer Shoes, with live music all weekend.  There will be childrens' activities, swimming, and workshops as well.  The site for this year's festival is the same place as the former Bracebridge Camping, where Lose Yer Shoes was held from 1997-2000.  Apparently the new owners are very pro-festival.  The confirmed bands so far are Folkin' Blues, Caution Jam, Cabin Fever and Yellow Butterfly.  Tickets are $35 for the weekend, $25 for one night and $25 for a weekend pass with no camping.  Kids 12 and under are free and you get $5 off admission if you donate a new or used pair of shoes to the Hands of Hope charity.  Click here for lots more info too.

In addition, the group is planning to release an archival performance recorded a month prior to the band’s legendary Fillmore East shows."  Click here to read a very recent Jambands.Com interview with Butch Trucks and Gregg Allman.
