Brainwashing, unethical salesmanship and coercive persuasion all fall into the category of "the art of deception." Deception, by definition, does not follow the criteria for truth. Scientific method uses criteria for truth. Therefore, it is useless to try to postively prove brainwashing using standards of scientific method. L. Ron Hubbard tried to prove that his brainwashing technology was a science, and he failed.

With that insight, you can see that "Science" in Scientology has absolutely nothing to do with knowledge, but is just another one of Hubbard's word substitutions for "brainwashing." Scientology is the "study of brainwashing." Narconon, ABLE, WISE and "religion" are all camouflage used to defend this notion.

People who deny brainwashing are brainwashing deniers. Brainwashing deniers realize the above in the fringes of their consciousness, but are both powerless to act on it and are ashamed that it contrasts with their pre-programmed assertions. This artificial frustration results in compulsive accusations of ignorance and wrongdoing by others.

In scientific terms, brainwashing deniers are selectively dyslexic. The part of their brain which enables them to associate a specific word, "brainwashing," with its meaning does not function. In cult terms, brainwashing deniers are dramatizing an implant, including a built-in "denier" to hide the implant.

By the way, the way to prove brainwashing is with knowledge, skill and intuition. Scientology realizes this and is training lawyers and psychologists to fight critics on their own territory. They're still lacking in intuition, though, because it's tough to be able to think and follow a cult at the same time. Brainwashing 01 Counter-measures
