Her wealth and good looks promoted to the status of 'Most Popular Girl In School', despite the fact that she is snobby, sarcastic, tactless, cruel, completely self-centred and painfully fashion conscious. She was often to be found be followed round by a gang of wannabes that others called the Cordettes. She was head-cheerleader, May Queen, and drove a car with a personalised number plate (QUEEN C). She dated many of the more desirable male population, including football player Daryll Epps, May King Mitch Fargo and Dingoes lead singer Devon, as well as making valiant attempts to date others including Owen Thurman and Angel himself.</div> <bR> <div> When Buffy first arrived, Cordelia took her under her wing, believing that any girl from LA had to be cool. The friendship was short lived however owing to Buffy hanging out with Xander and Willow, and nearly staked Cordelia by accident at The Bronze. Despite spending most of her time being less than civil towards them, it was to Buffy and her friends that she turned when the motives behind the attacks of an invisible presence seemed linked to her. She recognised that things were not all they seemed in the town and that Buffy could do something about it. During this episode she went so far as to admit to Buffy that she was lonely and nobody really knew her, but she'd rather have superficial friends than none at all.</div> <bR> <div> When the Master rose, Cordelia was in the right place at the right time to save Willow and Ms Calender, and then helped defend the library from attack by vampires. This was her first really foray into Buffy's world.</div> <bR> <div> It seems as if she disassociated herself from the gang during the summer that followed. When Buffy returned however and began acting cruelly towards her friends, Cordelia tried to advise her to stop it.</div> <bR> <div> As time went on she became more and more involved with the Scooby Gang, eventually becoming a full blown member by the time she started - against her better judgement it seems - to date Xander. The relationship was at first a secret one. Once it became public knowledge, her friends began to shun her and Cordelia briefly broke it off, before deciding that she was the leader of her band of Cordettes and therefore she didn't need their approval to do what she wanted. The relationship was back on. </div> <bR> <div> Senior year began with Cordelia still dating Xander and her assisting in the Slayerettes' attempts to keep the vampire population down in Buffy's absence. When the Slayer does return and, in another self-absorbed moment, she forgets to tell Buffy about the yearbook photos, Buffy decides to run against her in the competition for Homecoming Queen. They begin to argue bitterly, dividing the gang's loyalty. On the night of the dance however, Cordelia is mistaken for Faith and her and Buffy have to work together to escape a number of assassins who have paid for the privilage to kill the Slayers. At first Cordelia is afraid, but Buffy angers her so much that she becomes a one woman fighting machine, scaring off a vampire with a choice cut of bitchy words. To top the night off, neither girl is crowned Queen.</div> <bR> <div> When Spike returns to Sunnydale and kidnaps Xander and Willow, Cordelia and Oz go to rescue them, only to find the two in a passionate kiss. Cordelia runs out and is injured when she falls through some old flooring and is impaled on a metal rod. While recovering in hospital, Cordelia effectively tells Xander that it is over. She ritually cuts up all her pictures of him, trying to be her old self when she returns to school. But her status has suffered. Harmony and the Cordettes shun her, cute guys don't want to be seen with Xander's cast-off and the Cordettes suggest Jonathan, the class nerd, would make a great new boyfriend for her. Her misery calls the avenger of scorned women, the demon Anyanka, to Sunnydale. She grants Cordelia's unwitting wish that Buffy had never come to Sunnydale, creating an alternate universe where the town is controlled by The Master. As she tries to tell Giles what she's done VampXander and VampWillow kill her.</div> <bR> <div> Everything is returned to normal but there is more trouble for Cordy when her family loses all it's money due to her father's tax fraud. She is forced to work in a dress shop to try and pay for her things, but this money does not cover her prom dress. In an act of kindness Xander buys it for her.</div> <bR> <div> Even her attraction to Buffy's new watcher Wesley ends in disaster, with an awkward, completely lame kiss. With her Sunnydale training, Cordelia holds her own at the Ascension, but after, due to her lack of funds, cannot afford to go to any of the colleges that accepted her. So instead, she heads to LA where she intends to become a famous actress, but things don't go quite to plan. Poor and desperate for work, she agrees to meet with Russell Winters, a local investment businessman who `helps people get started in their careers'. Unfortunately he turns out to be a vampire, simply looking for a snack. Fortunately, a certain vampire with a soul is already on Russell's case...</div> <bR> <bR> <div> <B>TALKING ABOUT....CORDELIA:</b></div> <div> <U>CORDELIA</U>: "You think I'm never lonely, just `cause I'm cute and popular? I can be surrounded by people and be completely alone. It's not like any of them really know me. I don't even know if they really <I>like</I> me half the time. People just want to be in the popular zone.
