COMMUNICATIONS

There are a lot of people in Medievia at any one time and you will have to interact with them to get significant progress. To this ends there are a lot of communication channels ranging from the extremely private to the truly public. The main versions are as follows:-

Say <message> - (abbrev SA) this lets everyone in the room who is awake hear what you have put in as the message.

Shout <message> - (abbrev SH) everyone (including sleepers) hears the message within a certain radius. Further distances will see some breakup in the text. This channel can be turned off.

Whisper <target> <message> - (abbrev WH) lets your target hear your message but everyone awake in the room knows you have whispered something.

Formtalk <message> - (abbrev F) says the message to all in formation but no-one else in the room knows that there was even a message. Sleepers can hear and use this channel without any problems. WIll work for several rooms distance, but not on dragonback.

Clanchat <message> - (abbrev CLA) everyone who is in clan with this channel on (default is on) hears the message. Usually used to congratulate people or to organise trade runs etc. May be turned off.

Kingdom <message> - (abbrev KING) 3 people in each clan have the kingdom chat privelege - the leader, co-leader and one other. All clans in your kingdom have people who can hear this channel but they're not necessarily online. Usually used to organise kingdom battles and invades etc.

****Kingdom channel currently unavailable. Update on this as and when.

Town <Message> - all people with townchat turned on hear your chat. Townchat is based around the CLANTOWN system where one clan builds a town of its own and all clans SISTERED to that clan can use townchat to talk between clans. Replaces Kingdom chat to all intents and purposes.

Telepath <target> <message> - (abbrev T) costs a small amount of movement but only you and recipient hear the message and no-one else knows about it. Sleepers cannot hear this and the telepather is told of this (sos and so cannot hear your message). You may only telepath people in your clan or those in medlink.

Message <item> <target> ?????{needs checking}- sends the note or paper to the target if they are online. Distances do alter the time to receipt. People with recipient do see the reciept of the paper. You need a piece of paper and a quill to make a message to send. Costs a small amount of gold.

Dream <message> - (abbrev DR) used when asleep. Other dreamers hear this message and sometimes will respond.

Develop <message> - the develop channel. Default is for turned off. Not really done much with it and know it's for all to use. The priveleges can be revoked by whim of the gods.

Gossip <message> - used in medlink instead of shout. All in medlink hear this - may be turned off I believe.

Link <person> - sends them a message that you would like to speak to them in medlink. Sometimes people will be in unlinkable areas and you will be told of this.

Quest <message> - the quest channel is used by people wanting to enter a quest arranged by a GOD. Usually the province of heroes.

AFK <message> - if you're going to be (A)way (F)rom (K)eyboard then use this to set a message (eg gone for a potty break) - anyone telepathing you will be told the message you have entered. It can be used to telepath someone after you have died - eg you die and set an afk with a message of your location - any clannie who telepaths you will get your AFK message and can see if they are close enough to resurrect you.

Emote <action> - not really a communication channel but often used as such. Whatever is put after the emote command is put after your name. Used often by forms who have died and are waiting for the necromancer - often to berate the person who fouled up. Sleepers can use this but can't see their own or anyone elses emotes.

Room <action> - lev 15 or up for this. Like emote but doesn't start with your name. May not start with anyone elses name either.

SOCIALS - typing soc gives a list of interractvie commands a player can use to communicate feelings with each other. There are over 200 so there should be something for every situation. None of these will affect anything in the game, and you can qualify the social by adding a player or mob's name. LICK, for instance, means your player is observed by everyone in the room to be licking your lips. LICK ORC, however, will show you licking and orc - if there is one in the room.
