Magnificent Russia
The beautiful land of Russia is one I wish to visit someday.  The language and arts of this land are as rich as it's history and culture.  From the Baltic Sea to the Pacific ocean,  Russia is by far the largest nation on earth.
Russia has been through good times and bad,  from the reign of Ivan the Terrible and the Time of Troubles,  to the 1917 revolution and Perestrokia.  The Russian Federation has come a long way since the collapse of the USSR towards reform.
Great minds have emerged from the turmoil of this often chaotic land.  Brilliant thinkers like Dostoyevsky,  Solzhenitsyn,  Gogol,  Tschaikovsky,  just to name a few,  have sprung up from the vast and mysterious Russia.

The beautiful language of Russian is based upon the Cyrillic alphabet.  Unlike English,  which uses the Latin characters,  Russian Cyrillic was formed from Greek characters;  and many letters in their alphabet are similar,  if not identical, to Greek.
Here is a good website on Cyrillic.

Well,  the days of the KGB may be gone,  but that does not mean a little friendly espionage is not still promoted by our friends the Ruskies!
There is the new and improved spy organization in town!  And guess what,  it is as legit as the CIA,  so says the Ruskies!
Check out their site,  and be sure to look at their Soviet glossary,  very interesting!!

The current Russia is still volatile,  with many socialistic elements embedded firmly in the government.  However,  it is a vast improvement over the totalitarian communist regime that used to dominate the region.  Slowly,  but surely,  the Russian Federation is reforming the corruptions which have held over from the USSR.
Here is a link with a massive amount of information about Russia.

Here is another good site about the government of the Russian Federation.

Russia is full of beautiful things to see,  such as the exquisite St. Basils Cathedral,  in Moscow.  Tourisim is a very important source of income for the Russian Federation. I envy the lucky rotters who get to go on vacation there!  One of these days... I do want to visit.
Anyway,  here is a site with great tourisim info.

Russian software is the best!  Check out this company,  they make awesome software!  Especially have a look at their "Tsarevna" game!

Here is a website about the lovely city of Yekaterinburg,  which at the base of the Ural Mountains.
