GEOGRAPHY: YOU'D BE LOST WITHOUT IT!

The study of the earth and of the ways people who live and work on it is called geography. The word geography comes from the Greek word geographia, which means "a description of the earth." Geographers are people who study the earth. Their work has a special focus - it concentrates on the spaces that places occupy locally, nationally, and globally. It also deals with the location of these places and their relationships to one another.

The study of geography can be organized around five themes: location, place, human/environment interaction, movement and region.

Geography combines the physical and human aspects of the world into one subject. Geographers study the earth's physical and human features and analyze the patterns and relationships of each. In the process these areas of geographic study are linked to other subjects. Geography is a physical science because it studies the processes that shape the earth's environment, such as the formation of mountains and the changes in climate. When geographers study these topics, they often cooperate with other physical scientists, such as geologists and biologists.

Geography is also a social science because it focuses on human societies. Geography is related to history, economics, sociology, anthropology, and political science. Geography uses ideas and concepts from these other subjects to understand our world.(Glencoe 'World Geography' - Dr. Richard G. Boehm)

This site was not made to be a 'Links Site'. But as I started adding a few links they just started to accumalate. Even though it is not a links site, the links are numerous. That is the good news. The bad news is that the links are not seperated into groups. However, the first three links pages are not 'links to links pages' but rather are links to pages about geography. The last links page is a page to other links pages.
