-ERNEST BROWN 6'11 C, Indian Hills(IA) CC (via Bronx, NY)
Top 2 JC
Photo/Photo B/Photo C
Brown played high school basketball at St. Raymonds Academy in the
Bronx. He was the fourth rated player in the NY metro area in 1998,
and he was rumored to be going to the NBA. He committed to St. Johns,
but had problems academically. At one time, Ernest was rated the #13
player in last year's class. He was a Prop 48, but I don't know what
the story is with eligibilty. Brown is very tall and skinny, but he
runs the floor well and he has exceptional footwork. he has a pretty
turn around jumper. He is a major talent underneath the hoop, but might need an
attitude adjustment.4-25-99...It looks like Brown will transfer to
IHCC. He's just waiting in the wings for ISU....in my opinion, the
only way he doesn't play for the 'clones is if the NBA nabs him first.
This is all from a very accurate source.6-19-99...Former Mesa
Community College Assistant Coach Tres Chapman has been hired by ISU.
Brown committing will be the last piece of the puzzle, but keep in
mind that even if he commits, there is a strong chance that he will
opt for the NBA.7-28-99...HEADED FOR ISU!!!2-9-00...
Ernest is a big part of IHCC's title run. His stats are down from
last year, but that's a good thing for ISU because that increases the
likelihood of him matriculating. At the moment he's not a lottery
pick.2-17-00...The NCAA is investigating allegations that ISU
violated recruiting rules while recruiting Brown. Former Mesa(and U
of Iowa) Coach Joedy Gardner wrote an unsolicited letter to the NCAA
claiming ISU had violated rules. Mesa's AD has been quoted as saying
that he thought ISU did everything properly. It just looks like
Gardner is sour grapes over the situation and wants to nail Brown.
Eustachy doesn't think it's a big deal.3-7-00...Brown says
there is an 80% chance he'll go pro.3-10-00...I'm hearing that
Brown has dropped out of IHCC. He's gone. I think this is a bad deal
for both parties involved.3-17-00...It's official. Brown and
Cory Hightower to the NBA.

-JAKE SULLIVAN 6'1 PG/WG, Oakdale(MN) Tartan
Top 50 HS
Photo A/Photo B/Photo C/Photo D
Jake Sullivan is an outstanding shooter no doubt about it. He was
one of the most prolific scorers in Minnesota prep basketball this
year at 28 points per game. He doesn't have the speed or the court
vision to play the point, but will be an outstanding player regarless.
Schools involved- ISU, Minnesota, Mizzou, Temple, Northwestern, Iowa,
Stanford, others.6-29-99...Sullivan has been offered. It looks
like he will become the first commit.7-4-99...Sullivan has
given Coach Eustachy a verbal commitment. He was ISU's top target for
a wing guard. I think his game is very comparable to former Cyclone
Hurl Beecham. Sullivan will now be a working recruiter for ISU, who
would love to have his AAU teammate PG Adam Boone.7-29-99... Jake's
amazing summer has now prompted scholarship offers from North
Carolina, Utah, and UNLV. UNC Coach Bill Guthridge says that Sullivan
is the best shot faker he has seen in his years in basketball. ISU
continues to recruit Jake since his commitment is non-binding.
2-9-00...Jake is having another dynamo season at Tartan. He is
on pace to become the state's #2 all-time scorer. He's averaging
about 28 points a game this season. He's reportedly a finalist for
the McDonald's All-American team(just a rumor), has been named to
numerous top 50 and 100 lists, and led his team to a high rating in
Minnesota's biggest class, 4A. No doubt about it, Eustachy pulled a
rabbit out of his hat on this one.3-17-00...Coach watched Jake
put up 40 points in a playoff game as Tartan advanced. Jake is going
to the ISU NCAA games in Minneapolis.4-2-00...Tartan won the
state title thanks to 28 points from Jake. Jake became only the 2nd
player in state history to score 3,000 points. I can't wait to see
this kid as a Cyclone.

-ANDREW SKOGLAND 7'1 C, Minnetonka(MN) Hopkins
Top 300 HS
Photo
Skogland is a 7'1 240 lbs. center who is developing into a really
good player. He has already developed as a student, boasting of a
35 on his ACT test! Schools involved- Northwestern, ISU, Kansas, UT
Texas A&M, West Virginia, Iowa.7-13-99...COMMITTED TO ISU! It
is unknown whether he will be on academic or athletic scholarship. He
is the second commit from the Twin Cities. Coach Eustachy might not
be done in Minnesota yet...11-11-99...Skogland signed his LOI
with ISU. Apparently he will be on an athletic scholarship.
2-9-00...The Skogland led Hopkins team has been rated in USA
Today's National HS Top 25 nearly all season. Skogland hurt his hand
early in the year, and has now recovered. He is averaging a bit
better than 10 points a game.

-SHANE POWER 6'5 WG/WF, Merrillville(IN) Andrean
Top 125 HS
Photo
Power is the cousin of current ISU freshman guard Kyle Brumm. He
is one of the better players in Indiana, and is a top recruiting
target of Purdue among others. He is described as a "power guard" as
he played everywhere for Andrean, a private school in the Chicago
suburbs. He has drawn comparisons to Fred Hoiberg not only because of
his playing style, but because of his looks. Eustachy loves this
kid's playing style, and ISU will give him everything they've got.
Duke had shown some interest early. Schools involved- Purdue, ISU,
Southern Cal, and many others.10-9-99...COMMITTED TO ISU.
Eustachy got his man after Power officially visited campus.
2-9-00...Power has had his fair share of medical problems this
season, but the good news is that Andrean hasn't lost with Shane in
the lineup yet. He has improved his outside shooting from last
season, and has helped recruit the Gary area for ISU.3-7-00...
Shane was named to the All-Sectional Team. For the year, he's
averaging 26 points and 11 rebounds.4-2-00...Andrean lost in
the state championship game. Shane was given an award for the Indiana
player with the best sportsmanship! He was recently named 1st team
All-State, and is a finalist for the prestigious Indiana Mr.
Basketball Award.

-TYRAY PEARSON 6'7 BF/WF, Kankakee(IL) CC (via Hammond, IN)
Top 10 JC
Pearson has already visited ISU, and is planning an official visit
for the month of September. He is a slashing type forward who will
be an outstanding offensive rebounder on the college level. He is
very much in the mold of a Stevie Johnson, only a little bigger, and
with a better shot. Pearson is quoted as saying that he thinks ISU
would be a good situation for him, and he might end up being the ideal
replacement for Marcus Fizer. He averaged 17 points and 9 rebounds
per game a year ago on his way to All-America honors. ISU has
offered. Schools involved- ISU leads KSU and many mid-majors.
10-13-99...COMMITTED TO ISU.2-9-00...Pearson may be the
biggest surprise thus far. He is dominating in the post. Last I
heard, he was averaging about 22 points and 9 boards a game. Pearson
will be a more than adequate backup for Fizer, and should be a big
help to ISU's depth.3-17-00...Pearson has carried KCC on his
back to the JC Final Four. Bob Gibbons says he loves the kid's game,
and Pearson is his #2 JUCO! A great get for ISU. He needs to get in
the weight room, but he's a jumping jack in the post.4-4-00...
Pearson was named to the JC All-America 1st team!

-OMAR BYNUM 6'7 WF/BF, Indian Hills CC (via Omaha)
Top 50 JC
Granted ISU hasn't had a ton of luck with IHCC, Bynum would be a
nice pickup. He was a qualifier out of high school, and has 3 years
of eligibility left. He averaged about 8 points and 5 rebounds for a
very deep IHCC frontcourt. He's a bit weak for inside play in the Big
12 at 210 pounds. He'd be used as a post backup for the clones.
Omar will visit ISU in April. He's a done deal if we offer.
Schools involved- ISU, Creighton, Drake, IHCC.4-9-00..Omar took
his official visit to ISU this weekend. I think we might have offered
since Ellis Myles and Ronnie Griffin are off of our list now. Look
for an official commitment in a few days. Bynum is a offensive
rebounder extraordinaire. He's a slasher that will be used to guard
big perimeter players, and maybe post defense in an emergency. He'd
be in the same class with Brandon Hawkins, which can only help
balance classes.4-11-00...It's official, Bynum will be a clone!
He chose ISU over Drake, Creighton, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and UNO.
4-27-00...PrepStars rates Bynum as the #40 JUCO as only a
freshman, not bad. For what it's worth, Ernest Brown was #1.

-ZACH FORTUNE 6'2 PG, Bellevue(NE) West
Top 300 HS
Fortune wasn't very highly recruited during the fall signing
period, but a very strong showing in the Nebraska State Tournament,
and a solid performance at a tournament in California brought him onto
the radar screen. He was first team All-State at PG. He averaged 23
points and 8 assists per game while shooting 42% from three point land
and over 90% from the line. He is a very good student with a 26 on
his ACT and straight A's in high school. Schools involved- ISU,
Gonzaga, St. Louis, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Air Force. COMMITTED TO ISU!
4-27-00...More info on Fortune. He was named Mr. Basketball in
Nebraska. He played both guard spots this season, but is clearly made
for the point. He had a whirlwind recruitment. ISU had only been
recruiting him for a little over a week, and invited him for a visit.
Eustachy offered on the visit, and voila!

-ADAM SCHAPER 6'9 BF, Wheatfield(IN) Kankakee Valley
Top 200 HS
Photo
ISU got a good look at Adam Schaper this summer, while watching its
top target. Schaper played on the SYF Players AAU team out of
Gary, Indiana along with Shane Power. ISU's coaches were so impressed
with the big man's agility that they offered. Schaper is a versatile
forward who can shoot the three and handle the ball. His upside is
tremendous. His coach compares him to Nick Collison. Schaper will
have the chance to move up in national rankings when he plays next
summer. North Carolina State was very interested, but the 'clones
were able to lock him up before the big names came calling.3-7-00...
Schaper was the only junior named to his All-Sectional Team. Power
was also named to the team. Schaper is averaging 16 points and 7
boards a game. I think Schaper will make some waves on the AAU circuit
this summer.

Transfer from Providence College
Photo
Jefferson comes from a very familiar part of the country to Larry
Eustachy, northwest Indiana. Marcus hails from East Chicago, IN, and
played on the same prep team as current Cyclone Kyle Brumm. He was a
top 200 player out of high school and had schools such as DePaul,
Iowa, Wisconsin, and Purdue after him. In his senior year at prep
school, he averaged 18 points and 8 rebounds. He was injured much of
the year at Providence. He's a slashing type who will use the extra
year to bulk up(185 lbs). He chose ISU over Indiana, DePaul, and
Purdue.

-ADAM HALUSKA 6'6 WF/WG, Carroll(IA) Community High
Top 100 HS
Adam averaged 17 points per game as a freshman playing varsity for
Carroll. His coach Keith Stribe is the father of ISU women's
basketball player Sara Stribe. Haluska is easily one of the top
underclassmen in the state along with Iowa commit Jeff Horner. He
held his own in camps this summer, and will concentrate on basketball.
He has three point range and could grow to be 6'8. He has been
invited to visit both ISU and Iowa. Schools involved-ISU, Iowa,
Creighton, others.11-1-99...COMMITTED TO ISU. Haluska told
Coach Eustachy he was coming at the Cyclone Shootout. Duke was also
interested. This is a huge in-state recruiting victory.2-17-00...
Haluska is having a very good sophomore year! Carroll is 15-1, and
Haluska is averaging 21.8 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots
per game. He is shooting 58% from the field and 81% from the line.
I'm glad he'll be wearing cardinal and gold!2-29-00...Carroll
beat Denison-Schleswig last night and will move on to substate. They
are rated #5 in class 3A.4-3-00...Adam was a 1st team All-State
selection by most people. He had a great year. I'm glad ISU locked
him up early.
