Yellow Lab - Hi everyone. The lady who is doing this memorial on me, she calls me Angel, Princess, Pretty Girl, Sweetie and Pumpkin!! I have a name but nobody knows what it is and besides, I like those names better!! Here is my story as told by the person who took the time to pick me up and the Man who also tried to save me. They weren't afraid of me and I wasn't afraid of them because I knew they were trying to help me and yes, they both loved me, too!! Thank you!! Ok, well here's my story: "Hey you!!! Yeah you!!! The one who abandoned your yellow lab on the side of the road in Gibson county. I killed your dog today. I know... I know. I'm a monster. You're right. This beautiful soul deserved so much better. She deserved more than to be left for dead in the middle of the highway, although the young man that found her was of the best sort and sat with her until one of our board members could get to her. She deserved more than a short ride to the vet although the ride was cool and much softer than the ground to which she'd become accustomed. She deserved better than a few handfuls of treats although the ferocity with which she gulped them down suggests that it was the best thing she's had in a while. She deserved more than to be covered in sores and tumors. She deserved more than a one way trip in the door at the vet. She deserved more than to have had her nails broken off and the tears and cracks in the pads of her feet from the miles she must have wandered trying to find her way home. She deserved more. Damn you for letting her get into this condition. Damn you for making her last memory be of a stranger's voice that had to make up a name for her because we didn't know her real one. Damn you for leaving the hard choices to someone else. Damn you for putting me in the position that the only kindness I could offer her was a gentle crossing to Rainbow Bridge. Damn you for creating the situation in which the only love that I could offer her was an easy death. Damn you... for making me the monster." With this being said, let her Soul rest with the Angels and let God comfort her for eternity. |
