Welcome to My Copan In Picture Web Site! Copan is located in Honduras near the boarder of Guatemala. It is a seven hour drive from the capital city of Tegucigalpa to Copan. It is a three hour drive from San Pedro Sula to Copan. If you are visiting Guatemala, Copan is only a four hour drive from the Capital City of Guatemala including the boarder crossing in El Florido. You will be charged about $2.00 to enter Honduras. Money changers operate on both side of the borders. Be sure to take cash with you. Copan is a magical place filled with large and small pyramids, court yards, altar stones, buildings and beautiful well conserved steles. Copan is famous for its ceremonial staircases made of hieroglyphics in one of the main pyramids. Copan is filled with vast number of hieroglyphics that permit epigraphic investigation. The ceremonial Hieroglyphic Stairway has over two thousand hieroglyphs recounting the history of Copan since its founding fathers. Ruler 13 better known as 18 Rabbit was responsible for most of the hieroglyphs recording. In this simple site you will find lots of pictures of the main Copan Park as it is was in June 2001, when I visited this site. So if you travel to Honduras and/or Guatemala, make plans to visit this enchanted place.
