Mr Sid Blake of the Cornish Arms Hotel, 443, west 23rd Street and Blakes Star Hotel, 67 Clarkson street, new York writes:-

I am glad to say that we have our new place opened, and below I give a list of the Cornish people who stopped here on their way to and fro this last week. They all seemed to think that it was an ideal spot, and one of the most home like places they were ever in. Even if I say it myself it is quite a novelty to have a lawn of grass and trees in front of the hotel and be right in the heart of the city. I am positive that our guests will agree with me on this point.

The New York Cornish Association hold their first meeting here tomorrow night, and I expect it will be a very large meeting, as it is ladies night and they generally have splendid entertainment at their meetings. I will mention about it in my next letter.

The weather here is splendid almost like spring, and I think it is like that all over the States. Michigan is still about the same way  in the copper district, the strike being still on. A few more working, I believe. I hear that the other camps are all in a flourishing condition, although copper is not very high.
