Whilst I meant to write this letter chiefly about the New York Cornish Association, i find that i will have to put it off until next week, as the Oceanic had over sixty passengers on her from Cornwall, all going to different parts of the west, and as we also had three weddings at the hotel, my space will be pretty nearly taken up by that alone.

The Oceanic arrived at the dock at two o-clock Wednesday afternoon, after a splendid trip, outside of one day of bad weather. there were only a little over two hundred second class passengers, but one third of these were from Cornwall. The list of names I give below, where from and destination.

Mr Robert Grigg came in from Oneonta, New York, to meet Miss Ena Wilcox. Mr Samuel and Mr James Matta came in from Akron, Ohio to meet Miss Laura Gardy and Miss Elsie Fewens.

Mr Grigg and Mr Matta were originally from St Austell where Miss Willcox and Miss Fewens were coming from, and Miss Grady was coming from Newlyn East, the town of Mr Harvey's birth. After the landing of the Oceanic they immediately went to City Hall to secure their licences and were then married at the St Peters Episcopal Church a block away from the hotel.

There were about forty guests stopping at the hotel and they all went around to the church to witness the triple affair. Mr Sidney Blake gave the brides away and Mr T Goldsworthy was the best man. We all came back to the hotel, where I must say cigars etc. where plentiful all that evening.

Mr & Mrs Matta and Mr & Mrs Harvey spent three to four days in New York and then went to Akron, Ohio which city they intend to make their home. Mr & Mrs Grigg left a week later for Oneconta, New York State, where they will reside in future.
