There where many scenes that where cut from the theatrical release of ALIEN. These scenes added some  trivial ,but expansive information as well as (in some cases) changing whole aspects of the alien life cycle. The director Ridley Scott decided to make the cuts to increase the suspense while maintaining the pace of the film.

kane and lambert waking up There is a pan around the table. Kane Rise and shine Lambert. Lambert (off screen) What time is it? Kane What do you care. (approx. 45 sec.)

 

The Alien signal. Lambert is plotting a course to the planet and picks up the Alien signal.   Everyone sits down in the cockpit area. Dallas Can we all hear that Lambert?... A very odd noise for the signal is displayed. Kane Good God! Ripley Doesn't sound like any radio signal I've heard. Lambert Maybe it's a voice? Dallas Well, we'll soon know. Can you home in on it? Lambert What was the position? Dallas 6-5-5-0 dash 9-9.

Lambert Alright, well I found the quandrant.  Ancension 6 minutes, 20 seconds.  Declination 39 degrees 2 seconds. Dallas Ok, put that on the screen for me. Lambert Alright, well, thats it.  It's a planetoid.  Twelve-hundred kilometers. Kane It's tiny. Dallas Any rotation? Lambert About 2 hours. Dallas What about gravity? Lambert point .86. Ash We can walk on it. (1 min., 40 sec.)

Lambert confronts Ripley. This scene takes place while Ripley and Lambert are watching Ash and Dallas in the med lab. Brett (looking at Kane) Jesus Christ. Parker (through the glass) Hey, how's he breathing?  (Brett mutters something)  How come you guys don't freeze him!?  (To Brett) How come they don't fre. . .what is that, anyway?  (Faces Brett) What the hell's going on here? Ripley (enters the area) Alright, what the fuck is going ON! Lambert (who runs up to the approaching Ripley) You bitch! She swipes at Ripley a few times.  Parker and Brett run in to break it up. "Hey!  Hey. . .break it up!" Lambert (still struggling) . . .gonna leave us out there!  (She calms down) Let go of me!

Dallas Ripley when I give an order I expect to be obeyed! Ripley Even if it's against the law? Dallas You're goddamned right. Parker Well maybe she should have. . .who the hell knows what that thing is.  How come you guys brought it up here in the first place!? Brett Right! Ripley says something and a shot of Ash and Dallas near Kane is shown. Dallas How we gonna get that off of him.  How we gonna get that OFF!? Ash ?? ?? ?? (gets a 'thing') A shot of the rest of the group. Ripley What happened to him.  What happened TO HIM? Lambert It was in the derelict.  (Brett mutters) Look, we were inside and there was nothing around, and he volunteered to go down below.  He found these. . .egg things.  We lost communication and the next thing we bring him up and he's got this thing on his face! (1 min., 40 sec.)

The discussion. In this scene, the crew are discussing Kane's condition and the acid that burned thru several decks.  Internal med lab. Lambert Did any of the acid get on him? Ash No. Lambert It stopped dripping. Ash Yes, it ?? Lambert Well, there has to be umm. . .some way to get this off his face. Ash Hm?  Yes, well I don't think we ought to try that again.  It didn't work out too well last time.

Ash Well I've better get some intervenious to feed him though.  So far we don't know how much is absorbed in his system.  (He faces Lambert) You alright? Lambert (nods) Yep. Parker and Ripley enter.  Brett arrives later. Parker So what's going on here anyway?  I mean. . .he gonna be alright? Brett Is any of this shit down ?? with him.  Is he gonna live?  Huh? Ripley What's that. . .that stain on his lungs? Ash I don't know Ripley.  Whatever it is, it's blocking the scanner. Everyone looks at the scanner.  Silence. Brett So what do we do now? Parker Yeah, what's going on? Dallas We get back to work, and get out of here. They all leave med lab. (2 min., 16 sec.)

Progress report. Ripley calls down to Parker and Brett to get a report on the progress of the ship repair.  Brett and Parker are working on the repairs. brett Wait a minute, wait a minute, I think I got it.  Give it a try now.... Parker (sarcasticly) I'm sorry my friend, you don't have anything. Brett Damn.  I was sure that was it. Parker Well it's not man, try the next one!  What engineering school did you go to? The intercom goes and Ripley speaks.  I can't make it out. . ."What's happening?" Parker Awww shit, man.   My johnson, thats what's happening man. . .you know that. . .shit. Parker (sarcasticly) Allota real hard work, haaaaard work, Ripley.

Ripley Yah, I can hear it. Parker (to Brett) Ooohhh this one time you know what I mean. . .boom!  (To Ripley in the intercom) You oughta try sometime, sweethart. Ripley (intercom) Parker, I've got the toughest job on this ship.  Yeah, I gotta listen to all your numbers. Parker (To Brett) This one time. . .  (Brett and Parker mutter something to each other). Parker (To Ripley) Why don't you get off my back? Ripley I'll get off your back as soon as the 12 modules are fixed. Parker (laughs) This broad's a bitch, man. (1 min., 16 sec.)

Planning the search. This scene takes place after the chestburster is born and takes place in the eating area. Everyone enters. Dallas See anything? Brett No. Ripley It must have gone below. Brett Look goddamit, all I. . .all I want to know is what. . .what is it.  Mr. Ash now you're the science man, you have the fucking thing on here to study it, now you've studied it, what is it.  I mean, how are we gonna deal with it? Ash I don't know Brett.

Dallas He's using it as a host, as some kind incubator.  (Pause) Now whatever the hell it is we have to catch it and we gotta eject it from the ship, right? Ash Yes, but how precisly are you going to do that? Dallas We flush it out Ash, room by room quarter by quarter. Ripley That will take a while. Dallas Do you have an alternative?! Ash Our supplies are based on us spending a limited amount of time in the hypersleep. . .

Brett's extended death scene Brett is attacked by the Alien and then. . . Brett (while making a weird blowing/shock noise) PARKER!!  AHHHHHH! The Alien kills Brett with it's toothed tongue and takes him up into the air shaft.  Ripley and Parker come running in.

Parker Brett!  Brett! Ripley Brett! Parker looks up and his shirt gets smeared with Brett's blood that is dripping from the air shaft.  Brett's cattle prod falls to Parker's feet. (49 sec.)

Trying to trap the Alien   Ripley, Lambert, and Parker are trying to trap the Alien in the airlock.  The scene was only about two-thirds of the way filmed.  Below are the transcripts of the scenes availible. . . Parker (in intercom) Ripley!  Ripley!  Dammit!  Where the hell are you?  Ripley!   Ripley! Lambert and Ripley come racing into the cockpit area. Lambert We're here. Parker Keep it down, keep it down. Ripley What is it Parker? Parker Its..It's come outside the main airlock door.  Now open the doors slowly when I say.   ??? then pull [close] the other door.  Okay. . .?? There is a pause as Ripley and Lambert wait for Parker's signal. Parker Okay, now!  NOW! Ripley Parker?  Parker? Lambert Paarker!? Ripley (to Lambert) I'm going down, stay here!

Ripley runs off to Parker. The rest of this scene that was unfilmed has Parker observing the Alien.  Then an alarm rings that startles the creature.  The Alien runs out, catching its tail in the door and spraying acid that breaches the hull.  Depressurization is coming.   Parker and Ripley both fall down unconscious from a lack of oxygen, and then it cuts to the next scene. Lambert (into the intercom, very scared) Ripley?  Ripley?  Ash?  Ash??  Ripley?  Ash?  Anybody?   Ash?  Get some oxygen and get down to the 'lock, quick! Lambert runs off to the airlock. Ash and Lambert then arrive to give oxygen to Ripley and Parker.  Ripley then accuses Ash of activating the alarm to scare off the Alien. Ripley and Lambert's conversation about Ash This takes place after Dallas' disappearance. Lambert is crying/sniffling. Ripley I think it's the only way. Lambert I'm sorry you know, it just seems like your asking us to kill each other one by one. Ripley I promise you if it doesn't look like its gonna work, I'm gonna get us out of here.   Will you hang in there, ok? There is a short pause as Ripley consoles Lambert.

Ripley I want to ask you a question. Lambert What? Ripley Have you ever slept with Ash? Lambert (laughing) No.  I never got the impression he was particular interest?  [I think she says this] Why? Ripley I want you to figure out where we are now, ok?  Plot our course. They both walk off. Lambert Okay. (1 min., 38 sec.)

Longer build-up to Lambert's death.   You can see the Alien's shadow on the wall.  It walks in, crouches down, and immediately gets up.  It waits until Lambert notices its presence.  Lambert then sees the Alien, uncoils its tail, and rolls over to Lambert.  (42 seconds)

The cocoon scene After Ripley finds Parker's and Lambert's bodies she hears various moaning sounds.  After a little searching, she looks on the walls in the landing leg of The Nostromo, and she finds Brett almost completely turned into an Alien egg and Dallas cocooned, in the process of being transformed into an Alien egg. Dallas moans very sickly. Ripley (in shock) Dallas. . .God. . .Dallas Dallas Killll me. Ripley What did it do? She pauses and looks at the Brett-Egg. Ripley Brett?  (To Dallas) I'll get you out of here.  I'll get you up to the shuttle. . . Dallas Kill meeee. . . Ripley What did I do? Dallas Ripleyyy. . . Ripley torches Dallas and the Brett-Egg with the flame thrower.  She then runs to set the ship on self-destruct. This deleted scene would have been the Alien life cycle had it not been cut.  When James Cameron did Aliens, he introduced the Alien Queen, giving us the explanation that there is an Alien Queen that lays the Alien eggs.  It's possible that the deleted Alien life cycle from Alien could still be PART of the Alien's life cycle (an additional way of producing Alien eggs), but at the time, it is not an official part of the Alien life cycle.  As far as we know now, the Alien Queen is the only way of producing Alien eggs.
