Known for his heroism and good looks, Hicks was Placed in charge after his commanding officers where killed(and incapacitated) after a trip  to the Atmosphere processor (SUB LEVEL 3)....After deciding to "Nuke the Site from orbit". Hicks and the rest of the surviors. Prepared for immediate EVAC
as Dropship which was to return them to the sulaco(see USS SULACO) crashed also destroying there APC (see APC Tactical database).
After Salvaging the contents of the APC they returned to the Main Complex..
    With few weapons and equipment the marines sealed of med-lab and operations from the rest of the facility...Putting some "handy" UA 571-C Remote Senty Units  into the tunnel that kept the aliens at bay.
       But the aliens where the worst of the marines problems... The marines had Fired inside of the atmosphere processor which is "one big Fusion reactor. This  ruptured the cooling system which would caused a thermonuclear explosion within 9 hours... having no uplink to to get the second dropship from the sulcaco. Bishop volunteered to crawl though a pipe 280m to reach the colony UPLINK TOWER.
      During this time aliens got into the colony complex (though the roof) which lead to a ferocious battle as they made there way to the landing field.  Escaping through the airduct. Newt Leading the way with vaquez and Gorman bringing up the rear... After Vaquez and Gorman detonated a grenade. Newt ,who was crossing a Ventilator Shaft,fell down it,into the basement. Ripley and Hicks tried to rescue her however she was "Taken". On their way back to the elevator Hicks and Ripley encounted an alien.. Hicks took care of it .. However it sprayed him with acid . Injuring him somewhat...
Hicks was placed into cryo-sleep for thier trip home to earth..

Hicks was killed when a bulkhead gave way in a EEV (emergency Escape Viechle) as it crash landed on Fiorina Fury 161. He was killed instantly...
