Atmosphere

for Rick on his birthday

How is it that only a few layers of air
And a little bit of gravity
Are all that keep us from being sucked into space?
That disarming blue
With its painted clouds
That still find a way to move.
The large areas of green
That we call our home
Can be overshadowed by those white giants
That are made of nothing more
Than air and water.
