Below My Feet

It stretches out like a yawn
But so much harder.
Supporting and yet harmful
If you should happen to meet it head on.
It bears the tracks of centuries
And people’s behaviors.
Groaning for aid
When it has not been properly cared for.
But still it stays and holds it together
Keeping me afloat
Until my feet try to work at cross purposes
And I meet it once again.
