Wounds of the Heart

Bright crimson ribbons floating in the wind
And growing ever longer and thicker.
It never ends.
This life force flowing out
Should eventually run out
But it never does.
The war wounds never close, never heal.
I just have to keep swallowing the
Blood back in so that I don’t lose myself.
The only way to keep living
With a slash in each ankle.
The wounds will multiply throughout my life,
But I’ll just have to learn to swallow faster.
