The Hiker

based upon The Canterbury Tales

The Hiker was as simple as simple could be
And wore little or no jewelry.
Her hair was dark, as were her eyes.
Though her skin was as fair as the mountain skies.
A silver chain and a delicate ring
Were all that reminded her of that spring,
When a young Parisian touched her heart
With only a week 'fore they were to part.
Now she journeys, searching for her lost love
Based on the words he left above
her door:
"I will meet you one day at the gates of Canterbury.
Until then, wander the Earth in hopes of seeing me."
