Technical Theater

for Peter

Bolts of electricity sizzle through the senses.
That feeling fifty times worse than a cold shiver,
The sound of grease frying,
That blue arc that stretches towards the offending hand.
The shock of it sends one senseless
To all other thoughts except the pain.

This occupation is dangerous
For one can easily become addicted to
Each new jolt of energy.
That pleasure-pain snaking through the body
Sending the senses reeling
And leaving the brain
To try to figure out
Whether it enjoyed it
Or not.
