Watermelon War

Mother vividly remembers her most satisfying
Victory in the ongoing war:
The Scourge of Watermelons
Had captured one - a razorback -
On the coast of Louisiana.
Cladding herself in a bathing suit,
Readying for battle,
On that hot summer morning,
As it helplessly bobbed on the ocean's surface,
She tore into it with both hands
Savagely ripping and biting -
A slaughter of the bloodiest sort -
And ate her victim whole
His red juices running down her distended belly
And mingling with the salty sea.
