The Reports
by Xoth, Master of Black Magic
Since I will (hopefully) have many AX Reports to
post here on my FFML/AX page, I figured it would be a good idea to have
a page solely for those reports, so the main page doesn’t get cluttered
with links. Actually, I have no idea how long I’ll continue to do
this, but whatever. I like to think the AX Reports Homepage is more
important than it really is. ^_^ They’re listed in the order that
they were done (which is why AX 1999’s report is out of order), just so
you know. So, without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, I give you—the
AX Reports!
...Eh? Where’s the fanfare I ordered? There was supposed
to be a goddamn trumpet fanfare! Christ, every time I plan something,
*mutter mutter mutter*....
- AX 2000: Disneyland Convention
Center, Anaheim, June 30-July 3—In Which I Dance Terribly, the Group
Misses All the Major Events, and Disney Sucks
Ahh, the very first of my AX Reports; brings back memories. Not
all good memories, mind you, but memories nonetheless. Proceed with
caution: horrid illustrations and slams at Disney abound.
- AX 2001: Long Beach Convention Center, July 5-8—In Which I Drool Over Music Videos, the Group Can’t
Figure Out the TVs, and Domino’s Sucks
An expanded version of the previous year’s report, with even more pages,
lame humor, and DDR references. Also more event coverage and less
anime (though this had more to do with what happened than with how I made
the report).
- AX 1999: Anaheim Hilton and
Towers, July 16-18—In Which I Go to Utah, the Group Seemingly Gets
Locked Out of the Room, and Lines Suck
Written four years after the actual convention, here’s my abbreviated
record of the first FFML/AX gathering. Watch me struggle to remember
and reenact my experiencing everything—from cosplay to the dealers’ room,
from anime showings to event screw-ups—for the first time.
- AX 2003: Anaheim Convention
Center, July 3-6—In Which I Screw Up Before Even Leaving My House,
the Group Plays with Monkey Balls, and Delays Suck
Because no one who was at AX’02 bothered to do a report, I was forced
to make my return to AX in 2003. ;D Speaking of returning, AX itself
came back to the general area that hosted it for the first two FFML/AX
meetings. And aside from conjuring up bad memories of 2000, AX 2003
was perhaps the best FFML/AX experience yet.
- Deeblite's FFML-AX 2004 Photojournal
I couldn’t make it to AX’04, but fortunately that didn’t stop the others from having fun without me (the bastards XD). Since I couldn’t be there to write my usual stupid report, you’ll have to settle for Deeblite’s FFML-AX photo album at gitsandshiggles.com. Hey, quit cheering, dammit!
- AX 2005: Anaheim Convention Center, July 1-4—Live! ...More or Less
And in 2005, instead of a report written over half a year after the con ends, we saw FFML-AXers actually post reports from the convention. Deeblite’s coverage can be found at Livejournal.com, in both the FFML Community LJ and his own journal, and piro posted on his website, The Webcenter XP. Deeb also has a section for AX’05 photos in his gitsandshiggles.com pictures page.
