Introduction

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as the new Chairperson of the Cowdenbeath Football Club Supporters Club. As you are probably aware, the AGM was held on Tuesday 17th June 2003 in the lounge bar at Central Park and a new Committee was elected for the forthcoming season.

Most of you will probably not know me so I thought I would give you a brief potted history along with my hopes and expectations for the Supporters Club.

I am 51 years of age, reside in Cowdenbeath (21 yrs) and have, accompanied by my 12 year old son, Aaron, been supporting the club for the past 2 years, home and away (totally dedicated).

I work for a Computer Training and Consultancy Company based down south, with my place of work being in the Business Learning Centre in Dunfermline, where I conduct training courses.

For the past year to 18 months I have been helping Frank Dillon, the Secretary (past and present), in a non official capacity where I have had the opportunity to gain first hand experience of the many and varied tasks which have to be undertaken.

Both myself and the other newly elected members have already looked at the anticipated workload and, bearing in mind that our role is purely voluntary and part time, have drawn up the following report to give you an indication of who is doing what and in what role.

We are dedicated and we are determined. We want to take the Supporters Club forward in a variety of ways, but, importantly, we want to do it, on YOUR behalf, for the good of Cowdenbeath Football Club.

To assist us in our aims, a working committee of 4 members was also elected. I know them all, having travelled many a mile in their company. I have absolutely no doubt that both they and the full committee have the potential and the willingness for this venture to succeed. Any task requiring additional resources, can fall back, confidently on this working committee.

The distribution of tasks in the following report are not set in stone. It would not be possible or practical to presume that we can all be available and have the time available to act in that way. It is our policy and aim to try to ensure that all tasks can be undertaken by all committee members, in whatever capacity.

With regard to meetings, we are all of the same mind in that they are absolutely necessary, apart from legal reasons, to ensure that the club is run in a democratic manner. Where necessary, official minutes will be recorded and will be made available to any member on request. I can state, quite categorically, that it is again our policy and aim to ensure that no major decisions affecting this club will be made by any individual unless that decision is agreed at an appropriate committee meeting.

It is also our policy to ensure that certain financial data is made available to you on a regular basis throughout the season.
