Cowden found the going tough against league leaders Peterhead at Balmoor
Stadium and the home side cruised to a deserved victory.
With Innes Ritchie and Iain Mauchlen unavailable, it was a very young Blue
Brazil which took the field and two sloppy goals were conceded in the first half, both from corner kicks, with Scott Michie
and Robbie Raeside finding the net as the Cowden defence failed to clear their lines.
Teenage striker Darren Gribben restored hope when he blasted home a spectacular
strike just before the break after being picked out by John Paul Kelly. But the Blue Toon were not in a charitable mood and
Michie scored his second goal of the afternoon to send his side on the road to a comfortable victory. Young Cowden midfielder
Mark McEwen was handed his first-team debut as Keith Wright threw on three substitutes but the Blue Brazil were unable to
fight their way back into contention.
Cowden remain in ninth position but have a home fixture against Albion
Rovers to look forward to. The Coatbridge men havenīt set the heather alight this season and it gives the Blue Brazil an opportunity
to claw back some lost ground.
