Cliff Keuter, Professor of Dance, worked with many of the historic giants of modern dance, including Welland Lathrop, Martha Graham, Anna Sokolow, Jose Limon, Daniel Nagrin, Paul Sanasardo, Helen Tamiris, Lucas Hoving, Pearl Lang, and Paul Taylor. Upon leaving the Paul Taylor Company, Mr. Keuter formed the Cliff Keuter Dance Company of New York, which was managed by the National Theater Company and the Sol Hurok organization and toured nationally and internationally for ten years. He has been an active free-lance choreographer since 1970. His original ballets are in the repertories of Ballet Rambert (London), the Bat-Dor Company of Israel, the Australian Dance Theater, the Netherlands Dance Theater, the Midlands Dance Co. of England, Dancers of New York, and Ballet Du Rhin, France. Mr. Keuter left New York in 1979 for California, where he founded the New Dance Company of San Jose, and served as artistic director and principal choreographer for seven years. His work has been supported by grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New York State Council of the Arts, the California Arts Council, the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the Affiliate Artist Program, and numerous theaters and private foundations, including a major award from Hewlitt-Packard. He is presently the resident choreographer for the Center Dance Company of Phoenix. His dances are also in the repertories of Desert Dance Company, and the Yuma Dance Theater. Mr. Keuter's work was selected for many dance festivals, including Riverside Church, the Round About Theater, the ANTA Theater, Dance in the Park, Dance Theater Workshop, Japan House, and the Cubiculo Theater of New York, as well as Teatro la Fenice, and Teatro Verde of Venice, Villa Montalvo in California, and Jacob's Pillow, Massachusetts.
