Codex:Fallen Angels
The Fallen
The mystery of that of the fallen is the Dark Angels secret shame. None know of it other than that of the Dark Angels, their Successor Chapters and most likely, the Emperor who sits immobilised on his golden throne. So great is this shame that only a chosen few in the Chapter itself know exactly what happened in those most dark and terrible days of the Horus Heresy as a matter of fact it has been ten thousand years since Luthor, most trusted friend of the Dark Angels Primarch Lion El’Jonson, had betrayed his chapter along with the other Dark Angels under his command…
However after the Dark Angels home planet of Caliban was nearly destroyed, when the Dark Angels’ most grave battle was nearly ended, it is said that in the final climax, as the combat fought between that of the Primarch himself and Luthor was coming to a close that Luthor, powered by the gifts given to him by the chaos gods unleashed a crippling psychic attack which knocked the great Primarch to his knees and left him mortally wounded, and so just as Luthor was about to give the final blow he hesitated. Somehow he realised his great betrayal. Of his friend, of his Chapter, and of the Emperor himself. Unable to contain his great shame Luthor lost his sanity and so he fell down beside his Primarch unwilling to fight.
Realising that once again they had lost the Chaos gods ripped a tear into the very fabric of space and so a warp storm appeared, engulfing Caliban and pulling all of the "fallen" angels into the warp and scattering them across the galaxy. As for Luthor he is still alive, contained in a stasis field by the Dark Angels forever to be interrogated for his great sin.
Time in that of the warp and real space progresses differently, and so the Dark Angels which first followed Luthor into Betrayal are still alive to this day. Though some of the Fallen have indeed been turned into fully fledged Chaos Marines. There are still those who have realised what they have done and so they try to repent for their actions, hunted by their own chapter, some have re-integrated themselves back into human society, usually becoming outcasts while some have banded together to form extremely rare small fighting forces. Travelling randomly throughout space avoiding the Inquisition and those of their own Chapter while fighting against the enemies of mankind in an attempt to atone for the heretical acts which they committed so long ago…
Special Rules
Space Marines: The Fallen benefit from the ‘And They Shall Know no Fear’ rule.
Immune to Animosity: The Fallen are immune to Animosity caused by Cypher.
Detest Dark Angels: The Fallen, though not belonging to Chaos, still detest their Imperial brethren for what they have become and so all fallen must charge any unit of Dark Angels if they are able to do so.
Hunted by the Dark Angels: The Fallen are hunted relentlessly by the 1st and 2nd companies of the Dark Angels Chapter. Therefore, if there is a Force Commander in your Fallen Army then as long as he is alive all Dark Angels’ Deathwing must move six inches closer to him in the movement phase. In addition to this at the beginning of the Fallen player’s turn roll a D6 for every vehicle and squad that does not include a chaplain or special character. On the roll of a 1 The Fallen unit begins to suspect that the Inquisition, Deathwing, Ravenwing or some similar threat are nearby and will automatically fallback 2D6 inches to the nearest table edge. Since the Fallen benefit from the ‘And They Shall Know no Fear’ they will rally at the beginning of the next turn.
Must include Cypher: Any Fallen Angels army of 2,000 points or more is extremely rare and so if the army is 2,000 points or more it must include Cypher. This is because wherever Cypher goes he somehow attracts other members of the fallen. For the rules pertaining as to how to use Cypher please consult page 25 of Codex Chaos. Note that Cypher takes up one HQ choice on the Force Organisation chart.
Hardened Veterans: All Fallen Angels are hardened veterans and so they all have the same stats which means there are no veteran sergeants.
Cause Animosity: The presence of so many Fallen Angels ferments discord and animosity. At the start of each turn (game turn not player turn) roll a D6 for any enemy units (which are not broken or fleeing) within 12 inches of a Fallen Angels unit. On the roll of a 1 members of the squad start arguing amongst themselves and so may do nothing in their turn. However they may fight in HtH combat as normal.
Fallen Angels Armoury
Use the Chaos Armoury list on page 6 of Codex: Chaos with the following exceptions: The Fallen do not have any marks of chaos at all and so do not benefit from such, they may not take any Chaos gifts, in addition they cannot take the following items:
Sorcerer’s Staff
Chaos Armour
Chaos Space Marine Bike
Sorcerer’s Scrolls
Spiky Bits
Understand that this is the wargear list that the Fallen must use and so all characters and vehicles use this unless specified otherwise.

Though no Chaplains followed Luthor into his betrayal. During the years following the expulsion of the Fallen some of the fallen have become religious fanatics utterly devoted and completely dedicated to redeeming themselves in the eyes of their Emperor, preaching and urging their fellow comrades onward in battle. Please note that Fallen Chaplains do NOT have a rosarius or a Crozius Arcanum (they may bear ‘badges of office’ that resembles these objects but they do not have the benefits that would befit an Imperial Space Marine Chaplain). Rather they can ignore a wound instead: if a Chaplain fails his save against a weapon that does not cause instant death then on a 4+ the wound is ignored. This save is only made after a Chaplain fails his save and may be taken for every failed save of the Chaplain.

Rules: Please consult page 16 of Codex Chaos under Raptors. However ignore all special rules except Hit&Run.
Special Rules:
A Rarity: At the time of the Horus Heresy jump packs were rare and so there were probably not many jump pack assault squads which followed Luthor at all. Therefore you may only include one assault squad equipped with jump packs.
The assault squad only benefits from Hit&Run if it is equipped with jump packs.
Hardened veterans: The Fallen have spent 10 millenia honing their combat skills therefore they benefit from Hit&Run as listed in Codex: Chaos.
Remove Jump Packs: You may field a Fallen assault squad without jump packs, if so then a Fallen assault marine will cost 18 points instead of 35 and you may field more than one so long as it corresponds with the force organisation chart as they would still count as fast attack.
