Evening all, welcome to my weekly (HA HA, how many of you care that it's been a month?) rant and recipe (really a recipe this time {mostly because I'm too lazy to draw more EARL!}) Joy of all joys. Well, I'll try to be more religious2 about actually updating these lately.
You know what, anime fans bug me. Not the normal ones, I mean the psycho loser fan boys(/girls) that insist on doing things like ALWAYS referring to it as "Bishoujo Senshi Sera Muun3." (actually that sould be ever, it's SAILOR MOON. They meant it that way, that's the way it is. Freaks.) Because of them instead of Oh! My Goddess (which the author preferred) we have a movie titled Ah! My Goddess. (what-ever, why did it matter? Sheesh. Besides it was Aa! not Ah! anyway, so get a freakin' grip.)
Say what now? I want my english anime in english. Not in some freakish hybridized laughable nightmare. That's what subtitles are for. Arisu8 indeed.
1. Pashookay: from Serial Experiments Lain, the pronunciation for the Psyche processor chip. Left that way in the dub, sounds really really stupid. Psyche (pronounced sy key)
is a synonym for Soul and would have made perfect sense with what happens. Psyche pronounced Pashookay is just dumb. Even IF they asked the Japanese guys if they meant it that way they should have really tried to convince them of how moronic it would sound translated in English that way.
2. No, I'm not going to slam my religion today, though we'll have a anti-TEC special sometime.
3. I have really seen sites that do this.
4. Pretty Sammy OAV Volume 1.
5. Volume One.
6. Cute/Scary. I only let people off the hook for stuff that doesn't work in english (Ne doesn't count, there are substitutes that are perfectly fine.)
7. Usually childrens books, we have buckets of these at the library.
8. ALICE, it's ALICE you complete and utter IDIOTS. That is what is on the SCREEN for crying out loud it's on HER COMPUTER! What POSSESSED you to translate it A ri su? So it sounds that way, so WHAT it doesn't matter with subtitles. Like you felt no compunction about translating two words (don't know how to spell them, Hajimemashite Dayo I think....who cares...it was dumb. {Roughly: Pleased to meet you, right?["isn't it?"...however you feel like that day]})as two sentences but oh since they're saying Arisu we need to TYPE Arisu? WHY? Morons.
I'm sorry to say this poem has been vetoed by the powers that be sorry for the inconvenience.
