Chapel In The Woods

I walked today the wooded path
Where creatures wild and free
Had often walked in solitude
And broke the path for me.
I saw the lofty pines above
Reach up in praise to God
I heard the breeze play gentle notes
Among them as I trod.
I watched the rippling brook
As it skipped across the stone
And further on, a huge cliff
Made a great majestic throne.
I saw a little woodland fern
With a soft banner raised
Beside a tiny flower
It looked up in humble praise.
A quiet peace stole over me
As I in silence stood
And listened to God's music
Fill my chapel in the woods.
