GirlSports 2002-2003 Patch Project

Grab your troop/group and plan sports or physical activities to get fit and have fun in 2003. Or recognize them for their efforts in 2002.

We want Girl Scouts everywhere to feel great and to make sports and physical activity part of their everyday life. GSUSA would like to encourage troops/groups to get in active in 2003 and would also like to recognize troops/groups that were in active in 2002 with the GirlSports 2002-2003 patch. Simply participate in a sports and/or fitness activity as a troop/group according to the schedule below. If your troop/group already participated in a sports and/or fitness activity according to this schedule, you are already eligible to receive the GirlSports 2002-2003 patch.

Daisy/Brownie Level

3 hours

Junior Level

6 hours

Cadette and Senior Level

9 hours

You may participate in one long activity or several shorter ones.

We will be asking troops/groups to use the attached list of sample activities to help plan for GirlSports 2002-2003. Examples might include: working with local colleges or universities' sports teams to conduct clinics, going on a troop outing to a golf course, roller skating rink or rock climbing gym, or visiting the local equestrian center and going for a trail ride.

Troops/groups will be encouraged to involve the girls in the planning and to be creative. To earn the patch, however, troops/groups must be active...watching a sports performance is fun and educational, but it won't count.

With your troop/group, choose from the following list of sample activities (or think of an activity on your own):

Basketball

Golf

Rollerblading

Bicycling
