O.K, I'm not
too good at doing these things... I'm old! Actually, 38 to be
exact. I've watched all the old Godzilla flicks over and over.
As mentioned, I have been into the giant monsters long before
it was vouge. I was endlessly taunted and teased for this interest,
when I was a kid... Oh well! Anyway, I used to watch something
called 'Creature Double Feature' every Saturday afternoon... This was run
by a cable channel, 56. (Said channel capitalized on the sci-fi / monster
/ horror thing... Sort of, the Sci-Fi channel of the 1970's!) After
the double feature, there would be the four-o-clock movie...Usually more
of the same! And, of course, Creature Feature at 1.00Am!)
Anyway, I watched
them all! Couldn't get enough Godzilla, Gamera or any of the other
wonderful imported films from Japan!
As mentioned, I'm an artist,
and I spent countless hours drawing the subjects as well! I like
to think of it as a harmless obsession. Either way, it lead to
a full sized Godzilla suite in 1990. It was made from Eggcrate
foam, (To cut down weight.) and stood about six feet high, with
a six plus foot tail to match! It cost a fortune to
build, and unfortunatly, eggcrate foam degrades... Makeing it unsafe after
a while. So the suite was destroyed.
Today, I have
a collection devoted to Godzilla... Including video, books and magazines...
And a rather extensive gathering of model kits. Baidai's 350 scale
monster series, along with both Aurora and Monogram's versions.
