Yamaha XJ750-P Police Special (Model 24L) 1985.
The XJ 750-P is based on the 1982 XJ750-RH (Seca) and was used by the New Zealand Police until the late 1980's.

An original Police Special. This one is owned by Allan Craig.

I have restored my bike to street standard while keeping the best of the Police add-ons including the hard bags Police digital speedometer and fairing. I have also added a tow-bar in anticipation of building a touring trailer in the near future.
Restoration included completely stripping the bike to the bare frame which I had sandblasted and powder coated. This by the way worked out well and has proven to be a very tough durable finish.
I have also replaced the engine due to the engine suffering damage from an old carb fault that had been flushing the oil from one bore causing the engine to wear and use oil. The previous owner had let the oil run low damaging the cams and head.
All alloy parts were polished and clear lacquered. The stainless steel exhaust collector box and mufflers are copies of the original and were made by myself and a patient friend in the sheet metal trade.
