Ann R. Yanulavich Estero, Fla. — Ann R. Yanulavich passed away suddenly at her home in Estero, Fla., on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2004, at the age of 65. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Bassett Yanulavich, formerly of Rensselaer, N.Y. She was employed as a manager with Fifth Avenue Executive Suites at the time of her death. Ann was born in Plattsburgh, N.Y., and raised in Lyon Mountain, N.Y., and Aurora, Colo. A graduate of Aurora High School, Ann had a long career and was a pioneer in airline customer relations since the boom of the industry in the middle 1950s. She began her career with Frontier Airlines, where she remained for over 20 years. After leaving Colorado, she also worked for a number of other airlines, including Air Atlanta, Air Florida and finally as national head of customer relations with Continental Airlines. Her talents were recognized worldwide in 1977 when she was elected president of the Worldwide Airline Customer Relations Association. Her work brought her to places all over the world and she frequently wrote of her travels in industry trade magazines. Ann left the airline industry briefly in 1986 to 1987 to work as Hackensack Medical Center’s first director of consumer affairs, breaking new ground in her field in that industry. In 1992, Ann joined The Psychological Corporation as director of customer service. After her retirement, she operated a ComputerU franchise in Estero, Fla., in partnership with her longtime friend and associate Sharon Gallaway. There she enjoyed teaching basic and intermediate computer skills to seniors. Ann’s happiest times were spent volunteering for the organizations she so passionately believed in. She spent many years as a tireless volunteer for the Zonta Club of Bonita Springs, an organization of woman executives in business and the professions working together, across political and social boundaries, to advance the status of women and children worldwide. Most recently, she proudly served as co-wing leader of the Southwest Florida Wing of Angel Flight Southeast. Angel Flight Southeast is a non-profit organization arranging free air transportation to and from treatment facilities for those with medical needs who are financially distressed or unable to travel on public transportation. Angel Flight pilots fly transplant, compassionate care, disaster relief missions and others. Ann was committed to continuing Angel Flight's mission of eliminating transportation as an obstacle to receiving medical or humanitarian care. In addition to her parents; brothers, Thomas, William and James predeceased Ann. She is survived by her dear sister, Mary M. (Thomas) Favreau of Waterford, N.Y.; and beloved brothers, Robert J. (Shirley) Yanulavich of Madison, Ala., and Joseph M. (Debra) Yanulavich of Troy, N.Y. She is survived by 12 nieces and nephews, Nancy Vilander, Kevin Yanulavich, Robert Yanulavich Jr., Keely Peck, Sarah Yanulavich, Jennifer Yanulavich, James Yanulavich Jr., Jessica Yanulavich, Michael Yanulavich, Kristin Favreau, Aimee Favreau and John Favreau. Memorial services will be held on Friday at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Rensselaer, N.Y.
