Threaded Fasteners
Fastening devices are important in the construction of manufactured products, in the machines and
devices used in manufacturing processes, and in the construction of all types of buildings.
There are two kinds of fasteners: permanent and removable. A thorough knowledge of the design
and graphical representation of the more common fasteners is a critical part in drafting.
Below is an example of the standard engagement between two matting parts using a socket head
cap screw and and a dowel.
The method used is this simplified representation. This representation should be used whenever the information requires the least amount of drafting effort. In tool design, this method is widely used due to it's simplicity and speed in the design process.
Below is an example of socket head cap screws hidden between two matting parts using the simplified representation.
NOTE: The blind and through tapped hole examples.
The last example is a sectional view using the simplified representation.
