Country Director vacancies with Concern Worldwide
Based in Monrovia the main purpose of this role is to provide overall management and leadership to the Country Programme within the framework of Concern’s ethos, procedures and principles. The main duties and responsibilities include:
- final responsibility for all reporting
- security management
- representation/liaison with in-country donors and host government
- support and backstop management
- evacuation and supervision of individual management units/projects
- representation and accountability for all aspects of Concern’s Programme in Liberia.
Applicants should be educated to degree level and ideally have a postgraduate qualification in a development-related discipline. A minimum of two years’ experience of management in an insecure environment. A minimum of four years’ experience of planning, budgeting and reporting processes. Experience of working in complex, conflict-based emergencies is also required.
Country
Director - Burundi
Applications are invited for the post of Country Director based in Bujumbura. The main purpose of the role is to manage and develop Concern’s programmes in Burundi. Key aspects of the role are representing Concern’s operations at all levels, providing overall management direction and support to staff, promoting the transition of the programmes from a rehabilitation focus to a development focus and working with the team to develop a strategic plan for Concern Burundi. The role also includes ensuring the monitoring, reporting and evaluation of programmes, human resource and financial management, and liaison with government, donors and other NGOs (national and international).
Applicants should be educated to degree level and ideally have a postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as community development or development studies. A minimum of five years relevant overseas experience is required, with at least two years at management level. Fluency in French is desirable. Experience of managing in complex environments is needed as are well developed interpersonal, staff and financial management skills. While a development perspective is important the knowledge and experience to develop appropriate emergency or rehabilitation programmes as and when needed is also desirable.

The main purpose of this role is to take overall responsibility for the Tanzania Country Programme. S/he will lead the senior management team in Concern Tanzania and represent the organisation with Government, Donors and other international organisations. S/he will have responsibility for developing the Country Programme by leading the strategic planning process for Concern Tanzania and by enhancing the programming and managerial skills of key Concern Tanzania staff.
