ACTIONAID


We are an U.K. based international Non Governmental Organisation supporting development initiatives in some of the poorest parts of Asia, Africa and the Caribbean. We have been working in India since 1972 and support local NGOs in initiatives aimed at the eradication of poverty.

We Require : 1. DIRECTOR - FINANCE
(LOCATION - COUNTRY OFFICE, DELHI)


The incumbent will shoulder responsibility for :
  • Overall financial stewardship and preserving and consolidating the financial integrity of the organisation;
  • Formulation & Implementation of financial policies and of long term financial strategy
  • Effective management of the finances within the framework of ActionAid policies and
    procedures as well as accepted standards of prudent financial management.
  • Adherence to Statutory Requirements
  • Management Accounting
S/he shall form part of the senior management team of ActionAid India and will work in close coordination with ActionAid, UK and the ActionAid, Asia Region Office.

The expected person specification for the job is :

- A professional accounting qualification - CA.
- Working knowledge of the not for profit sector, including the legal issues
- Proven track record of at least 15 years, of which at least 5 years in a senior management position
- Strong human relations skills with sound leadership capabilities
- Willingness to undertake extensive travel
- Proficiency in computes, especially spreadsheets.

(Candidates with lesser experience will be considered for the Manager - Finance position)

2. REGIONAL MANAGERS
(LOCATION - CALCUTTA, MUMBAI, LUCKNOW)


The incumbents will shoulder responsibility for :

  • ActionAid's work in the respective regions;
  • Identifying and appraising NGO partners, supporting their work and monitoring progress;
  • Leading a highly motivated team of development professionals
  • Liaison / Building network with NGO's, INGO's, Government , Bilateral agencies.
The expected person specification for the job is :

  • A post-Graduate degree, preferably in Rural / Urban Development / Planning and Management or its equivalent;
  • Should have at least 7 years experience in implementation, planning, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation of development projects of which at least 5 years should be at middle / senior management level in an NGO. Direct grass roots experience would be of great value.
  • Gender sensitive and have conviction and skills for the empowerment of the poor and disadvantaged groups.
  • Should have sound knowledge of macro / micro development issues relating to India. In particular, an understanding and commitment to issues of equity, particularly gender, dalit, tribal rights, child rights and protection, rights to shelter, land and livelihood and rights to education and health. Direct experience in working for these rights would be of utmost value.
  • Strong human relations and administrative skills with sound leadership capabilities. Good negotiating.
  • Willingness to undertake extensive travel.
  • Proficiency in computers.
