 PROGRAM OFFICER

 ASSET BUILDING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (SEXUALITY AND REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH)

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The program officer will be responsible for developing, monitoring and evaluating projects for funding in the field of sexuality and reproductive health based on principles of gender equity and  women's empowerment. Particular areas of focus will be advocacy for and  access to quality sexual health as a precondition to safe behavior and  responsible reproductive choices. Primary responsibility will be to  manage  the current grants portfolio of the Foundation's Manila office that:

1)  increases the availability of sexual and reproductive health information  to  all citizens of the Philippines;

2) supports interfaith dialogue on gender  and reproductive rights; and

3) seeks to address the impact of migration and trafficking on reproductive and sexual health. In pursuit of these  objectives, the program officer will forge linkages among the women's health  movement, health professionals, researchers, advocates and policymakers to promote a better understanding of the key reproductive health issues currently confronting the Philippines.

 

 The program officer is responsible for soliciting, reviewing and  responding  to grant proposals and making recommendations for Foundation funding. The  program officer will be expected to review existing lines of work and to  identify further activities based on an assessment of needs and emerging  opportunities. In addition to working with Foundation staff in the  Philippines, the program officer will contribute to building the field of  sexuality and reproductive health through collaboration with Foundation  colleagues in the Asia region and worldwide through participation in the  Foundation's Reproductive Health Affinity Group.

 QUALIFICATIONS: Significant experience in the field of sexuality and  reproductive health and familiarity with relevant programs and  institutions  in the Philippines and Asia. Advanced training in the social sciences,  gender studies or public health and demonstrated analytical, organizational, oral and written communication skill are essential. Fluency in English is  required, as is the ability to work closely with colleagues and grantees of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
