The Organization

GIAN or Gujarat Grassroots Innovations Augmentation Network is a join initiative of Government of Gujarat, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and Society for Research Initiatives in Sustainable Technology and Institutions (SRISTI).

GIAN was set up on March 1, 1997 to bridge the gap between the needs of grassroots innovators and innovations, and the entrepreneurs, finance systems, markets and formal system of excellence.

GIAN is the only kind of organization anywhere in India and probably in the world providing rural incubation support to the innovators. In addition GIAN provides service support in protecting intellectual property rights of the innovator, value addition in innovations, technology valuation and technology transfer.

Administrative Structure

The Board of GIAN has nominee from Government of Gujarat, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, SEWA, and SRISTI. Shri Chhel Bhai Shukla is the President, Current Chief Secretary of Gujarat Shri G. Subba Rao is the Vice President and Prof. Anil Gupta, Prof. IIMA, winner of Golden Globe Award by Far East Economic Review, Nominated as Star of Asia in Business Week and a Pew Conservation Scholar is the Secretary.

The Chief Executive Officer heads the Executive team. Three-project manager and other project-based staff provide the remaining framework.

Other Information

The corpus of GIAN stands at Rupees Five Millions and GIAN has also mobilized close to Rupees Eight Million as various project support grant.

Almost and equal amount of funds are in pipeline waiting disbursal for GIAN.

GIAN has also set up a Grassroots Innovation Design Studio with National Institute of Design funded by it. Recently the Government of Gujarat has also recognized GIAN as the first patent assistance cell in Gujarat. GIAN has also signed and MOU with National Law School, Banglore to aid its Intellectual Property Cell.

The Position

GIAN is looking for a young and dynamic Chief Executive Officer to lead the young team of professionals.

The Position requires a person with lot of dynamism, ability to think and deliver and a leader. Capability to empathize with grassroots innovators as well as to interact and set up consultation with the premier science, technology and business houses would the trait you need to possess.

A vision to lead GIAN, capability to work hard and ability to assimilate information would be advantageous. Experience in Intellectual property Rights, Innovations, Enterprise Development is desirous but not a constrain.

Qualification

An MBA (preferably from IIFM, IRMA or IIMs or a reputed institute) with 5 to 7 years of work experience.

A mix of corporate and development sector exposure would be desirable.

Emoluments

Salary is not a constrain for the right candidate.
