Scientific Officer (Tropical Fruits)

The Job :
Provide overall scientific support to the Activity Manager CO2D and the Technical Coordinator of Asian Development Bank funded project. Data Compilation and documentation; maintaining the project database on programs / activities, institutes / centres and scientists involved in the project; maintenance of office records. Assist in developing work plans and budgets; preparing Letters of Agreement (LoA); preparing relevant draft progress reports. Provide support in organizing meetings / conferences, including logistic arrangements and minutes of meetings; and in organizing training program. Maintain liaison with the partners involved in the project activities; technical correspondence with partners. Undertake other duties as and when required.

The person :
First Class or good Second Class M.Sc in horticulture, genetics, plant breeding or other biological sciences. Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of agricultural sciences in recognized scientific / research institute. High level of skills computer use, scientific database management and information retrieval and excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with fluency in English are essential. Excellent subject matter knowledge and work experience in fruit crops and experience in developing Home page, Websites and desirable.

Duty Station : IPGRI Office of South Asia, New Delhi, India.

The Reward : The position is in band A, with an attractive remuneration package. The appointment will be on purely temporary basis for the duration of the Project up to 31 December 2002. Serving on this position will not entitle the incumbent for absorption in ICRISAT / IPGRI on a permanent basis. Other terms and conditions of appointment will be as per the ICRISAT rules for the Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS).
