Information Technology Specialist (National UN Volunteer)

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has an immediate opening for Information Technology Specialist (National UN Volunteer) for its Office in Bhuj, District of Kutch, Gujarat.

The overall objective of UNDP’s Gujarat Project is to create and strengthen a system for early needs assessment, coordination and formulation of appropriate strategies and programs to effectively address the early stages of evolution from relief to recovery in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake.

Job responsibilities:
? Maintain and update the Gujarat Program website at http://www.undpquakerehab.org
? Update and expand the Web site based on the current structure to include:
o new activities, links, events, news, bulletins, and publications;
o on-line electronic Newsletters on the Web; and
o new Web pages for new programs/ projects when necessary.
? Work closely with staff members of Gujarat Program and units in gathering and posting information on UNDP-related activities on the Web.
? Maintain electronic mailing lists for all programs and networks of ADPC Partners.
? Provide technical support in Web site development to UNDP project partners in the region.
Required Qualifications:
? University graduate or Masters degree in computer science or information management with at least 1 year experience in web page design and development.
? Creative with good understanding of design ideas and concepts.
? Strong knowledge in HTML, CGI, JAVA, and ASP.
? Familiar with various operating systems (Windows NT/98/2000).
? Excellent skills in using graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop.
? Knowledge of database (MS Access) administration and maintenance (Visual Basic) would be an asset.
? Excellent written and spoken English.
? Self-motivated and can work with minimum supervision in a team-oriented multi-cultural environment.
? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, team oriented work style, interest and experience of working in multicultural environment.

Salary, Benefit and Contract Period:
? Initial appointment will be for three months, with possibility of renewal.
? Salary commensurate with experience and salary history.
