This is John Moore McGinty and Mary Loretta Brown

They are my great, great grandparents. John Moore McGinty was born on November 10, 1823 in Hancock County, Georgia. He died June 13, 1888 in Grimes County, Texas. He married Mary Loretta Brown in Georgia.

Family folklore says that she was a plantation owner's daughter, and ran off with him to Texas sometime before the Civil War.

Rev. Richard Junis McGinty and Ida Mae Loftin were my great grandparents.

Rev. Richard Junis McGinty was born in July 22, 1861 in Grimes County, Texas. He died November 6, 1946 in Harris County, Texas.

He married Ida Mae Loftin April 17, 1883 in Grimes County, Texas. She was born April 10, 1866 in Grimes County, Texas, and died July, 1906 (definite date unknown). They had six children.

My grandfather was their oldest child, Andrew Maurice McGinty, born April 6, 1886 in Grimes County, Texas in a log cabin which was actually the Loftin Home Place. The picture below is the remains of that cabin as it looked two years ago.

Andrew Maurice McGinty died on January 28, 1965 in Houston, Texas.

Rev. McGinty married a second time to Carrie Burrow and they had one child.
