For this tutorial we will make a corner bear

This was made using Paint Shop Pro 7. and Eye Candy 4000

You will need to download these Selections
and save them in your selections folder.

Remember to save often...

Open a new image 370 x 370 on a transparent background
Set your foreground color to #AD8656 set your background color to #DAB484

Before we start - we fill every selection with the foreground color
Contract the selection by 1 and fill with the background color

Name your first layer LEG, go to selections, load from disk,
the 1leg.sel and follow the above steps

Add a new layer call it FOOT , go to selections, load from disk,
the 2foot.sel and follow the above steps

Add a new layer call it BODY, go to selections, load from disk,
the 3body.sel and follow the above steps

Add a new layer call it ARM, go to selections, load from disk,
the 4arm.sel and follow the above steps

Add a new layer call it ARM, go to selections, load from disk,
the 5arm.sel and follow the above steps

Add a new layer call it EAR, go to selections, load from disk,
the 6ear.sel and follow the above steps

Add a new layer call it EAR, go to selections, load from disk,
the 7ear.sel and follow the above steps

Add a new layer call it HEAD, go to selections, load from disk,
the 8head.sel and follow the above steps

This is what we should have by now....

We're going to the next level....I hope you have everything on separate layers...:)
We are going to give all the layers a nice cutout
After the cutout add a noise of 4
We are going to give The Leg and both Arms the same cutout
Vert and Hort both 0 Opacity 100 Blur 40
Shadow color checked color #72502c

Go to the leg layer select all, selection float
and give it the cutout with the above settings
Do the same with both arms and add the noise of 4

Repeat but change the blur to 32.5 for the foot add the noise again

Repeat but change the blur to 27.5 for the body add the noise of 4

Repeat but change the blur to 25 for both ears add the noise of 4

Repeat but change the blur for the head to 60 add the noise of 4 again
Close all layers except the two ears and merge visible

This is what we should have by now....

We go back to the foot layer, and load from disk the 9light.sel
go to colors - Adjust - Brightness=40 Contrast=0
We go to the merged ears layer, and load from disk the 10lightears.sel
go to colors - Adjust - Brightness=70 Contrast=0

Next we are going to give all the layers a jiggle
With the following settings

Almost done just give this sweetie it's face and he's ready to use
Lets go back to the head layer and add another layer

Name it LINES load from disk 11stripes.sel - floodfill with #AD8656
Go to Colors - Adjust - Brightness=-35 Contrast=0

Add a new layer call it EYES load from disk 12eyes.sel floodfill with black
Go to Effects-3DEffects-Innerbevel and use the round preset
Add a new layer call it NOSE load from disk 13nose.sel floodfill with black
Go to Effects-3DEffects-Innerbevel and use the round preset...change the angle to 335

Add a new layer call it MOUTH load from disk 14linesmouth.sel floodfill with black

Add a new layer call it BLUSH with your airbrush spray a blush for the bears cheek
It should be something like this ....

I used #A73C1F--- give it a blur of 7

Add a new layer call it HIGHLIGHT with your drawingtool freehand line width set to 2
draw a little line at the upperside of the blush...give it a blur of 3.5

Turn off visability of all layers except for the blush and the highlight ...merge visable
Turn your head layer back on
Copie and paste to the other side of the head....it should be barely visable
Load the 8head.sel again invert selection and hit the delete key..

Merge the HEAD-EYES-NOSE-LINES-MOUTH-BLUSH and EARS layers ...call it HEAD
Merge the LEG and FOOT layer and call it LEG

Add a new layer ...Arrange and send to bottom
On emmmm request I added a box to the Bear....:)
Go to selections, load from disk, load the 15box.sel,
floodfill with the color of your choice
Take a lighter and darker shade of the same color
Floodfill with the darker color contract selection by 1
And fill with the lighter color
Select the box, float selection, and give it a cutout.

Shadow color yet a darker shade of the colors you are using
Hort and Vert=0 Opacity=100 Blur=35
Add the noise of 4 again
Select you box and spray a little black along the top

Add a new layer, go to selections, load from disk, load the 16topbox.sel
Floodfill with the darker color contract by 1 and fill with the lighter color
Select the top, float selection, and give it a cutout
Change Blur to 20, add the noise again
You can decorate your box any way you want, that's what makes it unique

When you are done hit the shift-D to copy your image and merge the original

We keep the layers of the copy separate for future use
You can use this cutie for different projects, as a corner decoration for calling cards
Corner stationary, boxes, just remove the box and put something else in it's place
your imagination is the limit......:)
