The Bunny of Shalott--Part I Parody of Tennyson's "The Lady of Shalott" On either side the ocean lies Great Deserts of cactus and of pie That cloak the sand and meet your eyes And thro' the desert where roadrunners fly To many Arabed Camel-lot And up and down the humps do go Grazing where the magpie grow Round a burrow down below The burrow of Shalott Lizards lighten, flowers quiver Little meeces run and shiver Thro' the dune that jogs for ever By the Burrow in the desert Blowing round to Camel-lot One round wall and one brown ceiling Under ground of hooves that pummel And the quiet burrow is a tunnel The Bunny of Shalott On its edges, lizard cover'd Are many things, lightly color'd Which have not yet been discover'd They are drowned being cactus-smother'd Prickling all in Camel-lot But who hath seen him lift a paw? Or even watched him see his saw? Or has he starred on yon Hee-Haw The Bunny of Shalott Only peepers, peeping later In among his dirty crater Hear a banter like Ralph Nader From a dromedary-hater The senator of Camel-lot And by the sun, the peeper tired Piling sleeves on dunes admired Listening whispers ' 'Tis the fairy Bunny of Shalott. '
