General Supervision Enhancement Grant

Purpose of Program: This program provides technical assistance and information that

  1. supports States and local entities in building capacity to improve early intervention, educational, and transitional services and results for children with disabilities and their families; and

  2. addresses goals and priorities for changing State systems that provide early intervention, educational, and transitional services for children with disabilities and their families

Eligible Applicants: State educational agencies and others that have not been awarded grants under this competition (84.326X) in previous years. Eligible applicants are listed in the Federal Register notice.

~Estimated Available Funds: $7 M.
~Estimated Average Size of Awards: $465,000.

National Institute on Disability & Rehabilitation Research


Rehabilitation Engineering Research Centers (RERCs) Program (Federal Register: April 22, 2003 [CFDA# 84.133E])


Purpose of the Program: RERCs conduct research, development, & training activities regarding rehabilitation technology — including rehabilitation engineering, assistive technology devices, and assistive technology services, in order to enhance opportunities for meeting the needs of, and addressing the barriers confronted by, individuals with disabilities in all aspects of their lives.


Eligible Applicants: States, public or private agencies, including for-profit agencies, institutions of higher education, and Indian tribes and tribal organizations.
~Applications Available: April 22.
~Deadline for Transmittal: June 27.
~Maximum Award Amount: $1,000,000 per year for the Universal Interface & Information Technologies topic area; $950,000 per year for all  other topic areas.
~Estimated Number of Awards: 9.
